Adrian Lewis has just hit a nine darter in the first set of the final .

I though Phil Taylor,s performances would not be matched but him and Andeson look like they are taking darts to a whole new level .

          Here's the 9 darter - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pb37XS2o_d0

What a great match, Lewis was relentless and fully deserving of the win. Fair play to Anderson too, against most other players he would have won. Adrian's only 25 too so he should win a fair few more!

The boos for Barry are pantomine tbh, he's made the PDC Darts what it is. I heard they've made over a million quid just in gate receipts

The winner's prize was 200k, just 50k short of the Snooker World Champion's cheque, should Barry raise it for the Crucible this year? I think 300k for the winner is about right if he's offering 200k for the darts.

taylor hasn't played well for a while and he was no where near on top form in the worlds but he's still the best player by a country mile the rest aren't even close to him. on the day he's beatable as is eveyone but saying lewis and anderson are taking darts to a whole new level is crap. they have to get to phil taylors level 1st something which none of them will do. lewis played well and deserved to win but now he as to go on and dominate the game which i just dont see him doing winnign everything like taylor does hitting the averages which tayor hits having the consistency which taylor as had over 15 years.

lewis is a good player but i just cant see him matching taylor or even coming close.

Of course he wont dominate like Taylor has done , the competition is just too strong with the likes of Wade , Webster , Anderson , Lewis etc who have raised their game and their averages .

Taylor has the psychological edge on players and has done so for years and used to bully his opponents sometimes even before a dart was thrown .

This new breed of players are,nt frightened of him and can match him in the scoring , the finishing and most important the psychological battle .

Considering it was the first final appearance for both the standard was awesome .

You are right though they have got to do it on a consistent basis to prove their worth .

Its just like Hendry and O, Sullivan although Hendry,s record is impeccable some would argue that O, Sullivan has turned in performances that have surpassed that standard . But he will never dominate becuse the field is just too strong .

Like hendry would,nt have had the same domination in Todays game and nor would Taylor .

i wouldnt agree with that at all as of summer 2010 he held all the televised majors but the players championship and started the year still holding 3 of them so he is still dominating. he might not dominate like he as done in the past winning everything because the field is getting stronger that i do agree and he's getting older.
but i will bet anyone he wins 3 times what any other player does in the next couple of years. plus it was a good final good to see diffierent players in it for a change.

Why would he do that when Snooker is in decline compared to what is happening with Darts?

Lewis played awesome in the first set but the averages dropped quite rapidly after that still top class but for me not on taylors level. Lewis has to prove he's not a 1 hit wonder now. he surprised me how well he held his nerve maybe he has turned a corner and will show what he can do from now on. Well done though.
