After Rossi's appalling performance at Silverstone he now has a different rear end and gearbox on the Ducati taken straight off of next seasons 1000cc Duc that he tested recently. With a ban on testing new parts by contracted riders during the racing season this can be seen as Ducati bending the rules and needs to be looked into further by DORNA. The Ducati GP11 is now the GP11.1 apparently.

Just had two great races in succession at Sachsenring and Laguna Seca and with bridgestone bringing in a third choice tyre compound at Brno in august that might suit other riders and teams and bring the rest of the field a little closer to the front, things are getting better.
Any thoughts on Stoner and Lorenzo boycotting Motegi in japan due to radiation fears. Independant report states that levels are safe but Stoner for oner is adamant that he won't go.

Got to say i thought Laguna was a really exciting race, Jorge rode like a hero considering his earlier crash, did you see him trying to get off his bike in the parc ferme ? poor bloke could hardly walk !!
I hope Stoner the moaner sticks to his guns and refuses to race in Japan, i wouldn't want to go either, why believe the so called experts ? its just not worth the risk however small. I believe the race should be cancelled for this season, and all the talk over on the MCN website is about the teams will put pressure on them to race and will be heavily fined or even sacked if they refuse to turn up !!
These are exceptional circumstances and i would hope they would be allowed to make up their mind as to whether to race or not, it would be just a shame if the championship is somehow decided on this result. So for that reason i hope Jorge doesn't back down, as it would be a clear track for him to take a big points haul.

Stoner absolutely awsome yesterday at Indianapolis, seems to me like he wants to be enough points in front come Motegi that he can afford to boycott that round like he wants to even though Honda have told him that they expect him to go. Spies rode a great race after a very poor start, should have been up there with Stoner after the practise times, but came through to take third after a great pass on Lorenzo.
As for Rossi, well I think that he really doesn't matter any more, new era with the 1000's next season but already Ducati have ditched their new bike, as the chassis doesn't work 'cos they're using it now, and didn't have one to test after Brno unlike Honda and Yamaha who both had very positive tests. So come the winter with Ducati having to test yet another brand new machine they will be six months behind the japanese factories and still to find out whether their new bike is any good.
Great career and the best of his generation, and basically that's all you can be, ciao Vale

Stoner the champion with two races left, rode a great race pulling out one second a lap before a rain shower slowed him for a few laps before it dried up again and he once again pulled away. Almost lost it when the rain came down again with three laps left, did really well to stay on it as he was the one who found the rain first being in front. Deserves this second title after putting up with that evil handling Ducati for the last four years, even though he won a title on it he had to ride it like he stole it every time to get the best out of it, something that no one else seems capable of doing, even the so called GOAT.
Looking forward to next season with the new 1000cc bikes though, should be closer racing at least for the first season before any major development takes one bike further than the others. Would like to see young brit Scott Redding in Motogp on a 1000, he's too big for Moto2 and has a sliding the rear style that would suit a bigger bike. Bradley Smith has got a Motogp ride for 2013 but I think he made a mistake turning down that ride for next year when all the new bikes will be a lot closer to each other than they will be in 2013 when the factory bikes will have gone forward in development while Bradley's satellite Yamaha will have stood still.
Dorna have to get rid of the control tyre rule and open up competition again. Read in MCN this week that the new Ducati 999 with a similar airbox monocoque frame to the Motogp bike, although made of aluminium instead of carbon fibre, is suffering no front end feel problems for its test riders due to the fact that they are testing on Pirelli rubber which is recomended for the road bike and is the control tyre for WSB. Seems that Rossi and co's problems all along are with the Bridgestones having a hard carcass and compound which don't suit the Ducati's design as well as certain riders riding styles (Elias) so this is why they are going down an orthodox aluminium frame route to make the thing more rider friendly. We shall see if they manage it.

Very very sad news for the biking fraternity today, the man with the big hair has been killed doing what he does best, racing a motogp bike

Ohh and feel really sorry for Colin Edwards who was the bike to hit him, (along with Rossi, but i don't think he actually made contact, but he was a great friend of Marco's) pretty sure Colin is due to retire soon but this must be an awful way to finish his career

Been out on the vmax all day, recorded the race and just watched it. Knew immediately he had died, no one survives a hit like that to the head, helmet tumbling down the track told it all as did Valentino shaking his head as he got his bike together after avoiding the accident himself.
If it had happened earlier on in the season when he was indeed riding recklessly I could have said that it was coming, but he has reigned himself in and was riding well and in control, and to die trying to save a lowside was extremely unlucky. My heart goes out to Colin Edwards who had nowhere to go and can't be faulted at all. Congrats must go to the trackside marshalls who stopped the race at once after witnessing the severity of the accident and did everything they possibly could, unlike those bozos at Misano last year who scraped poor old Tomizawa off the track without checking him at all and then dropped him off the stretcher into the gravel in their haste to keep the race and the tv schedules on track.
Two riders in two seasons is too many some may say, but it is a dangerous sport and like Steve Parish said on the BBC the riders volunteer to take part and know the risks involved. This is the difference between a sport and a game, no one ever died taking on a tricky black to win a game of snooker, Marco was a very brave man and will be sorely missed by those who knew him personally and those who watched him race. R.I.P.

Yes I saw her with her head in her hands, she knew just how bad it was and the tears were flowing freely. His dad was in the pit garage as well, what a bloody thing to witness. Think that all riders will be holding on to their loved ones tonight for sure.

Qatar last sunday, a reasonable result for Stoner seeing as he couldn't sustain his early pace due to arm pump but nevertheless Lorenzo rode well and will be a closer contender this season. Can't say the same for poor old Rossi though.
