Well, I'm afraid not. Never found anything that would stop my dad's cat from doing that.

However, I successfully managed to do so with my own cat I had when I was smaller. He'd usually wake me up in the mornings but one day, I seem to have been fast asleep. So the cat jumped onto my bed... (I still didn't notice that) and, for whatever reason, stepped onto my chest. Now you have to know that it was a huge cat and not exactly slim. The funny thing was that I still didn't wake up but I dreamt that I suffocated. I'm being totally serious. I don't know what I dreamt before but I can clearly remember integrating into that dream that I couldn't breathe and was going to die. Suddenly I woke up (as you would expect with such a dream) and two huge yellow eyes were starring at me, about five centimetres away from my face. I just screamed my head off. I was totally surprised and only realised it was the cat when I had already shouted on top of my voice. Needless to say that the cat speeded out of the room in a time that would have beaten the world record for cat sprinting. From that day onwards, the cat never dared to come close to my room in the morning let alone miaow or scratch on the door.

      • lol Kat. That was so funny...
I had a similar run in with one of our cats yesterday. She was recently getting more and more adventurous in trying to accompany me, whenever I would leave with the car. She would jump on the hood or roof, whenever I would get in the car and wouldn't want to leave, even when I started driving. Usually being in a rush, I already a few times had to stop repeatedly to pluck that little idiot from the roof and 'throw' her back in the garden and then try to outrun her back to the car. (At this point you should imagine that picture, maybe with added neighbours watching and wondering...). Anyway, yesterday I decided to take her with me on a short drive, putting her inside the car. Went swell for about 30 secs, after that I suddenly had an Amok-running cat trying to run circles on dashboards, windows, etc. I swear she was defying gravity at times there (luckily she didn't decide to run over me as well). I stopped of course, opened the door, halfway down our street and now had a cat escaping at the speed of light into some neighbours garden...
        cats!

My canary used to wake me up and it was really pleasant, but now he's growing old and fat and lazy and wakes up after I do!

That's a brilliant song, maybe my overall fave R.E.M song.

I was unfortunate enough to listen to the radio this morning, and Gloria Gaynor told me that she'd survive. I've been working on getting rid of that "ear worm" ever since.
