The diamond mine in Mirny is probably the most impressive hole on Earth, but it's not the biggest. Bingham Canyon Mine in Utah is a similar depth and 3X the diameter. HERE

And some might claim that this mine in Canada is equally impressive. HERE
It's difficult to get the scale of that one but there's an airport on there somewhere.
