Beckham is indeed still a good player and a very hard worker, Brittish football looks more appropriate to him I think.

I personally think that Beckham is the most overpaid and overrrated player in the history of English football! At his peak he was a good player, but has never been great. He is no better than many players who are never likely to play for England.
Yes he was good at free-kicks, but he is not as good at freekicks as players like Nakamura and Edu who requently score or get assists from them. Beckham took every freekick/corner when he was on the pitch, why weren't others given a chance? Especially as 90% (yes I made that percentage up :P ) of his kicks went wasted without even a chance on goal, Lampard, Gerrard and Rooney all take freekicks for their clubs and probably would have a higher chance of getting something from them...
[/end of rant]You play a long slow deadweight red to a corner pocket. As it approaches the pocket, a kamikaze woodlouse crawls out from under the cushion and makes its way across the table, conflicting with the path of the red precisely at the point the red gets there. The red, needless to say, veers off course, and the future of the woodlouse is uncertain. - The Statman

hear hear! Free kicks and crosses is something you can learn if you train on it every day. Those words are from the great Johan Cruyff directed to Beckhams' skill. To dominate a match, to lead your players and let them play better, position them in the right spot, creating midfield openings for forwards is what a top player should have in his tally. He did not have that, like Beckenbauer, Pele, Maradonna and yes, also Kevin Keegan!

Not that I have any real knowledge about footie but Iøve never really liked Beckham either. I don't really get the fuss“There is nothing like looking, if you want to find something. You certainly usually find something, if you look, but it is not always quite the something you were after.” - J.R.R. Tolkien

Don't think there are many players to be compared to Maradona, Pele, Beckenbauer, Cruyff... So I don't think Beckham's fault is not to be a genius like those mentioned... He's overhyped, but that's what the media do to many sportsmen/showmen etc. You might like it or not. And yeah, David knows how to use that hype to earn his money and if this sort of lifestyle is suitable to him - good for him. Don't think I'll follow him more or less because of that. If he's a bad or barely mediocre player I guess he wouldnt've played for England.ZIPPIE FOR CHAIRMAN

2! 1974 and 1978!
As big as football is in England I think they have done pretty poor if you compare it with countries like Germany, Italy and France (which are in size and population in the england league). Holland is of course a tiny country and have overachieved in football! I admit the standard of the holland team at present is almost as poor as the england one. Not quite yet though!
