  • Windows Media Player Help!!!

I want to uninstall Windows Media Player(WMP) completely. Any ideas how to do it? I want to remove the registry values and everything and then re install it. When I am trying to play files, it says "The specified Module could not be found".

I run Windows XP, WMP 10. I cant install WMP 11 because I dont have SP2. WMP isnt working because I earlier uninstalled it and then tried to reinstall it and it then said " You already have a better version of WMP, Cannot procede further".

I know the problem is with WMP!!!

    Please help!

try removing the previous version by Start> control panel> remove/add programs (in fact this is the way you should ALWAYS remove programs..not with the somethimes built-in removal feature)

Thats they way I did it. It just dosent happen.

And I am unable to install SP2 because of some restricitions. I have to make the changes in the Registry and I am afraid I dont understand the Registry!

I'm afraid you can't uninstall WMP (to change back to an older version, for instance). I had this problem (I wanted WMP 9) some months ago. I emailed Micrsosoft about it and they told me the only thing I could do was to reinstall XP. So I did, it worked. Sorry, but I think that's the only way.

DAMN! I dont even have the Original XP CD. Are there any other Players that I can use instead of WMP?

I think you can't uninstall WMP normally, but if you do a bit of research on the net, I think you might find a solution. I did manage to uninstall DirectX once, but the time I spend is alot more then reinstalling the system

Get VLC media player, I'm pretty sure it does the same as wmp and more

I don't think it's very easy to remove wmp.

Microsoft claims that it is not possible to uninstall Media Player 10 because it's a feature of the operating system
You play a long slow deadweight red to a corner pocket. As it approaches the pocket, a kamikaze woodlouse crawls out from under the cushion and makes its way across the table, conflicting with the path of the red precisely at the point the red gets there. The red, needless to say, veers off course, and the future of the woodlouse is uncertain. - The Statman
