      I wish I could go
You play a long slow deadweight red to a corner pocket. As it approaches the pocket, a kamikaze woodlouse crawls out from under the cushion and makes its way across the table, conflicting with the path of the red precisely at the point the red gets there. The red, needless to say, veers off course, and the future of the woodlouse is uncertain. - The Statman

Maybe a few players I have not seen live so far. Hendry, Williams, Davis, Stevens, Ken or Ding. A Ding - Dott final would be nice. Just to watch how 2 different styles of play collide.

All singing after, Dinga Dinga Dott Dott Dott!

            LOL, Cessy.

On a more serious note tho, a cue, a racket, even a car are all bits and pieces of material that need to be worked by a human being. So I think it's more than fair to award a prize to the person itself and not to the technical equipment.

However, I never really understood why equestrians are awarded anything. I wouldn't really call a horse a 'device' or 'equipment'. What is the rider actually doing? All about the horse really, isn't it?

Normally the rider is "driving" the horse just like a car Where to go, what pace and so on... And working and teaching things to the horse in everyday practice. At least I think so

I tend to disagree, Paul, with your initial point in this thread.

Sure, she is a Royal, but she is still a British world champion at her chosen sport (and, unlike Graeme Dott, a sport at which the British don't tend to dominate). It is a British personality of the year award, in a year in which British success on an international level has been pretty scarce. I cannot think of a British win that caused more British pride this year, however shortlived and minor it was.

The thing with Phil Taylor is, for thirteen world titles or whatever it is, it doesn't make hime a presonality "of the year" as such.

I bet they give Phil a lifetime achievement award when he won it 20 times and he is dead and buried.

They should have given it to Shelley Rudman for winning a silver medal at Torino!

                          Agreed April.

The point i was trying to make is that a cue, racket, etc. doesn't usually refuse to go on at a certain point or 'goes on strike', so to say. (Funny thought, tho! )

As soon as a second mind is involved, that obviously plays an important factor. It's like honouring the right-winged defender of a football team when in fact it was the achievement of the entire team.

Mind you, it would be hard to interview a horse!

Thats why we rented an apartment instead of a hotel! In case the pubs are closed cause of a late finish, we have some backups in the fridge!
