  • Ben Elton - Chart Throb

    Hey all.
Wondering through my local shopping complex today I walked into general entertainment shop "Borders", looking at the January Sale bargains(like you do), I headed for the book section.
I saw a book called Chart Throb, and a memory triggered in the back of my already useless head, and I struggled to remember what the hell the meory had to do with anyting remotely related to anything to do with my life, then I thought...aaah the book.
I saw Ben Elton on "Parkinson" a few weeks ago, plugging his new book, and I thought it sounds great, I must buy it.
At a normal price of £18 I would have had to have been drunk to buy it, but at half price, a measly £9, I was tempted, so I picked it up and bought it.
Having read a mere half of the first page so far, I am thrilled that I own it, it is amazingly hillarious.
When finnished I shall provide a complete review for you to read, and I would much appriciate any comments on any books by Ben you have ever read, as I wish to start a collection, of ALL his works.

    Thank you,
    Dan.
    1994 a good year
    The Masters a great event
    The Final a marvellous match
    The Winner a snooker genius
    Alan McManus The Winner
    Stephen Hendry The Loser

    1994 a good year....

Ben sure is a talent, havent read his books as yet but his contribution to the blackadder series does give an indication .

I am myself reading a boring management book by GE's ex ceo Jack Welch aah its not that bad really.

Dead Famous is a very good satire of the Big Brother craze. It is very funny as well as exagerating the darker side of reality television.

I've read 'Inconceivable' (about a childless couple trying to conceive, doh- it is a movie as well) by him and will probably now reread it again after your advertising here. I remember it as being very hilarious!

I am reading the newest Umberto Eco at the moment-'The Mysterious Flame of Queen Loana' about a person with Amnesia. While I quiet like the beginning I must say I've lost interest a bit after 100 pages... Hope it will pick up again.
