Name days are also very important over here... let's say they used to be as nowadays people seem to not celebrate them to the same extent as only a few years/decades ago. We even call New Year's Eve "Silvester" over here. Silvester is the saint who this day has been dedicated to. As far as I recall from my days at school, it refers to Pope Silvester I who died on that day in 500-something AD. So much for our Cultural Education class today.

Cultural Education class... why not?! I love learning about the traditions people keep in other countries...
I could use this thread for recipes for the holidays sweets, but I don't think that's such a hot idea...

Oh and there's also New Year's Resolutions, it's high time we made some!
