  • The blind leading the blind

I have to be up at 4:30 in the morning, as I am giving a blind friend a lift to Heathrow Airport – for he is travelling to Australia.

I am not well acquainted to Heathrow's Terminal 4, never having had the need myself to fly anywhere, although I have seen it signposted from the M25 and I have the vaguest of notions as to what an airport looks like!

Anyway, hopefully I'll be able to get him to the right place(s) at the right time(s) and the clever people at Qantas, with whom he has booked disability assistance, will take him under their expert wing and out of my novice one, and everything will be fine! (I do know how to drive, which I guess is a plus.)

So goodnight. The last thing I must forget is setting the alarm clock!

Haha, yes I suspect so. It won't last much longer though, I'm afraid, as I'm going to Newport in two weeks. Unless something else happens this time...

Hi Just checking you managed to find your way and Joe got the airport on time?

Do you have a fear of flying or is it just that you have never need to fly anywhere?

I don't know whether I have a fear or not because I have never needed to find out!

(PS I am back from the airport now!)

Well done Statman - I know what a nightmare Heathrow is having got lost there myself! I bet your mate really appreciated it.

Statman man, I can't believe you have never flown anywhere. Are you telling me you drive to Aberdeen?!?! So easy to get on a plane geezer!!

I have flown over 40 times myself, I wouldn't say I particularly enjoy it but it helps you get about!!

Ah, the good old M74! Wouldn't do it any other way.

It is the only way you can get to see the sights on the way – Linlithgow Palace, Dunkeld Cathedral, and two days crossing the mountains to the west coast. blah blah blah.

Each to his own I guess!

True Statman, each to their own, live and let live. But how will you ever visit any ranking events when the chinese revolution has completely taken over and the whole season is played in the far east?!?!?
