Chairman of Selectors David Graveney, said: "Mal Loye can consider himself unfortunate not to be included as he made an encouraging start to his international career.

    606: DEBATE
Vaughan should not have been included because the risk of injury is too great

    606: Have your say

"We have included Ravi Bopara because we believe he is a multi-dimensional cricketer whose all-round talents will help give the squad a better balance."

    ----------

Bopara has been picked over Mal Loye becuase he is "multi-dimensional". Have the selectors not learnt a thing after the Ashes??

In addition, we start the series and can't win for toffee. Establisheed performers like Anderson and Lewis disappear from the squad due to injury, and we start winning, yet they still come back into the reckoning (hopefully behind Mahmood and Plunkett, but who knows). Chris Read has disappeared without a trace and Mal Loye, the only opener who can take the game to the opposition, is also despatched.

Bopara will go to all parts in the West Indies and is a strange selection.

    Come on England though

They shoudl have learnt from the squad picked for the first ashes test - that you need you need your best batters and best bowlers. They are going that way this time picking Panesar - but why Bopara. Mal Loye would love the short boundaries in teh Carribean.

      Multi-Dimensional? They are cricket players.
