  • Virgin Media vs Sky

just today sky has taken away sky one, sky two, sky sports news and sky news, I can't believe it, can't they hack a competition? and in the end it was us the customers that suffers. Virgin media is better for price.

Well, i used to have Sky until i realised i was pretty much paying £20 a month for 3-4 hours of sports a week (usually after midnight due to the only thing Sky has that the BBC don't are the American sports i like) and then just channel after channel of bad tv.

Plus anything involving Rupert Murdoch is evil from the get go. Never seen Virgin Media, might check it out.

What's the poll asking exactly? Who we use, who's we think is in the right, who'd win in a fight?

Anyway, they've both annoyed me for failing to come to an agreement in the interests of their customers. From what I've read it appears BSkyB are the main offenders for imposing an unrealistic price hike but either way I've lost my most-watched channel (I was on Telewest). I'm reluctant to switch to Sky on principle but it might just come to that.

We resisted Sky until fairly recently and I must say I'm very impressed with the sports coverage and pleased that we've got it. If you like most sports as I do, there's live rugby league, football, golf etc. and I think it's good value.

I've had both sky and ntl in the past but now I just have freeview because I realised I was spending a fortune on loads of channels I didn't want and the ones I wanted (sports) I could watch down the pub or at a friends house.

I'm staying well clear of these rip off merchants until they realise that some people only want a few channels and would be happy to pay for them individually instead of as part of a big package of channels that are full of repeats and junk.

          Roll on pay-as-you-go internet tv.......

There was a comment from Sky - saying that they were able to offer Vrigin Sky Sports News etc. so that it would cost them nothing? Anyone know what this is referring to?

                I don't have either... I'm a freeview man, me.

If I had to choose tho, after reading Richard Branson's autobiography I'd choose Virgin any day of the week!

We cant get both fortunately. All sports are on cable over here. Around 10 quid a month for the cable company. They tried a sort of sky channel subscription but it completely went to tatters. Went off air after a few months. Well, we dont like to be conned by some overrated football ballerinas!
