I'm afraid I'm not competitive enough for this. I joined in the League cause I believed it was all about fun. I was wrong. As Plato said, you can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation, and I'm happy to have played all these matches. Only I am not having fun any more.
Well I don't have a killer instinct, and I can't say I'm sorry about that... So I will play my last match and then go. I wish everyone good luck from now on.
I'm afraid I feel the same way as Nina. Maybe I'm a bad loser or maybe not competitive enough, I don't know.
The best thing that has come of this is that I have gotten to know people here a bit better, and it has been fun at times, even if I've been beaten heavily
But I will stick around and finish the matches. As Nina said, there's nothing nice about a quitter.

Good luck everyone, may the best man/woman win

    • Just to clarify everything the draw criteria was:

      frame difference
frames won (I realsie now this is the same)
      head to head
      games won (matches won)
I do not expect it to come further than that but if it did then a play off match would be played as opposed to alphabetica order.

Head to head can involve any number of players.

For example right now Davis is ahead of me because he beat me. but if I was to catch up with Danny's Frame difference I would jump him as I beat him.

If however in the last round, Danny were to win 4-2 and me and Davis win 6-0 then all three would have level Frame differences. Then the headto head would be summised on a league of us three which would look:

      Davis 3 points FD +4
      Chas 2 points FD -2
      Danny 1 point FD -2

If Davis and Danny alone were to end tied on frames then Danny would qualify based on winning the most matches.

Of course bring Marc and Elvaago into the equation confuses things even more...

        • I am afraid I have been misunderstood. Even by my dear friends. Trying to explain how I saw things only made people believe that I had a bad outburst after losing my match with Ranen. The truth is I never expected to win and therefore my disappointment wasn't as great as believed.
I was introduced to pool shortly before this League started. I played with friends for fun, and fun it was. I can remember laughing my heart out after missing a shot or snookering myself.
I entered the League because I thought it would be as much fun. Of course it was all about winners and losers, the misconception was my fault entirely. So after the first few weeks, I had a change of heart. Mind you, I hadn't won but hadn't lost either, so losing was not what triggered it.
The only good thing that came out of it, as I pointed out with Plato's quote and others said later, was getting to know people better. That was a lesson and I'm grateful and happy.

I am not sure I have made things any clearer, I had to try tho. I'll leave you guys to counting your points, good luck again.

          • Nina,I hope you didn't think I misunderstood? I don't think I did. I certainly didn't think your post was just a reaction to your loss against Ranen.
I guess I also joined here just for fun, as the few times I've played pool it's been great fun, but never very competitive. This league isn't really for me, but you never know before you try.
            Again, good luck to everyone

            • Sölvi and I played our match yesterday evening and it ended 3-3.

It was a great match to play and, if I may say so, we both played pretty well. The story of the match was one of nicking frames. Whenever a frame looked to be going one way, we would miss the black or the last colour and the other player would play a terrific clearance to take the frame. It was quite unpredictable, which is always a nice thing for any match to watch or play in. I guess the draw is a fair result and reflects the way the match has been going very well.

Good luck to everybody for the last round and, whoever Sölvi has to play, I really hope for that person that she won't be playing like yesterday, for you will have little chance of beating her.

As for Marc... you might want to dress warmly against me!

                Thanks for the match,Kat.
It was a close match indeed. I think you summed it up pretty well, nothing to add.
And for the person i'm playing this week (Danny, I think): no need to worry, all my previous results show that I'm not a strong opponent. I still haven't won a game, lol!

Good luck to everyone this week

                    • Well the first match of the week is over. Nina vs Chasmmi was the first big game of the weak with chas's semi final spot being pitted against Nina's dignity and pride. Chas desperately needed the win to close in on a semi spot whilst Nina was hoping to end a fruitless campaign on a high.

The first frame was an edgey affair with both players showing their form with a array of misses and cock ups before chasmmi forged clear, with black over the middle pocket just a light screw on the final solid would have been enough to secure the first frame and with aplomb chas deepscrewed into baulk and missed the resulting black.

Nina then cleared to the black before missing herself and presenting chas with a half chance. Chas cooly stepped up and the ball went flying into the corner pocket. Sadly that ball was the white and the black was in the middle of the D. To chas's surprise Nina originally opted for an awkward cut until he sportingly noted that she had ball in hand, and the resulting moved white left an easy shot for 1-0.

In frame two, things were again edgey until, Chas decided enough was enough and took the frame by the scruff of the neck by potting the black so things could quickly move onto frame 3, 2-0.

The third frame was when things began to turn around. Nina had found her feet and was potting all and sundry. Luckily she missed the final black and left chas in position to clear up (kindly potting his awkward stripe in the process). To his relief a frame was on the board. 2-1

frame four and NIna has gone wide, a couple of extravagant shots gave a bewildered and useless chas nowhere to hide. Like Midas, everything the greek touched turned to gold and soon she had secured a valuable point to go 3-1 up.

The fifth frame was make or break for chas, he needed a win but with that now gone a draw was imperative. Nina though wasnt about to let that happen and surged into an early lead. Chas finally found some resolve though and fought back, opening up the balls and fluidly clearing up to the final solid. Then when easier option were available he played another patented deep screw to leave a long black into a crowded corner and in exhibition style slammed in the long pot at what seemed like 12mph for the frame. 3-2

Final frame and all to play for, Nina may finally get that win she so craved, and chas had the opportunity to move up to third if he secured the draw. Pressure was on both players and it showed as chas went in off on the break.

Nina was equally fazed as she rattled off three pots in a row to take the lead. Not to be outdone chas potted something before missing completely and letting Nina in. By now most balls were crowded and there was nothing on until chas came to the table and in one shot created an opportunity for Nina. The half chance was all she needed and with a delightful display of potting from all angles she took the frame and the win. 4-2.

If Elvaago loses, Marc fails to win AND Davis lose 5-1 or worse, chas will still go through! There IS hope :S
                      However do not threat everybody,

                          • Actually Marc form and league placings would statistically put you and Danny as the favourites to qualify as form suggests that Danny will beat Miss S, Ranan will beat Elvaago and Ellena will beat Davis.

If that happens then you beating Austrian girl will send you through. You do have to win to stand a chance though.

Of course form means nothing as we have seen many times throughout history.

dannyd0g was involved in another scrappy match but came through in the end. The balls never seemed to open favorably for either player, but little by little, shot by shot dannyd0g patienly eked out the win.
