  • I just played against austrian_girl. Final score: elvaago 4 - 2 austrian_girl

Frame 1: elvaago quickly takes a significant lead that is hard to overcome.
Frame 2: Carbon copy of frame 1.
Frame 3: AG shows her determination as she takes this very lengthy scrappy frame with some brilliant potting and showing her skill at escaping snookers.
Frame 4: elvaago barely got go the table, AG easily potted her way to a well earned victory in this frame.
Frame 5: elvaago at the table again. After one missed pot, he cleared up the table in one visit with a bit of help from AG who previously potted one of elvaago's balls in her second shot.
Frame 6: Another tense battle. But in the end, AG overscrewed a brilliant pot which left her snookered on her last ball. A valiant attempt to escape the snooker was successful, but nudged her last ball out of the way for elvaago to pot his last ball and the black to secure a 4-2 victory.

    • Well with two games left to go it Ranan and Ellena (bar a miracle) are secure in their semi final places. However the final two are all to play for with chasmmi, marc, elvaago, Davis GE and Dannyd0g all within 2 points of each other.

      3 Chasmmi ------- 7 ---- 3 ---- 3 ---- 1 ----- 23 ----- 19 ----- 9
      4 Marc ---------- 7 ---- 3 ---- 1 ---- 3 ----- 20 ----- 22 ----- 8
      5 elvaago ------- 7 ---- 2 ---- 3 ---- 2 ----- 23----- 19 ----- 7
      6 Dannyd0g ------ 7 ---- 3 ---- 1 ---- 3 ----- 21 ----- 21 ----- 7
      7 Davis GE ------ 7 ---- 2 ---- 3 ---- 2 ----- 19 ----- 23 ----- 7

chasmmi and marc have fate in their own hands. However next week sees Danny take on Marc and Davis take on chas.

Therefore wins fo the lower placed players there plus an elvaago victory over Ellena could potentially see 4 players tied on 9 points with one further back on 8 going into the last round.

Based on results so far elvaago and Davis have the hardest run ins, each facing two of the top three placed players in their final games.

That said though chasmmi is currently three matches without a win since his heroics against Ellena and and marc has only picked up one point from his last two games.

The form player right now is arguably Dannydog who is unbeaten in 3 matches and so his game against Marc next week may well decide who the final semi finalist is. Although with his superior frame difference Elvaago may have something to say abut this and you can never write off a Davis.

          • Oh, so Miss S and I are still in there, I thought for a minute I might as well drop out now!

But then again, the other players need someone to easily beat to get their points, isn't it a pleasure being of use?

                        • I just played chasmmi.

This was a must-win match for me, lying in 7th place, with my two remaining matches being against chasmmi and Ellena in 3rd and 2nd places in the table.

As usual, I don't remember much about the frames themselves, so may have to try to convey more of the atmosphere, rather than the actual play. It began with chasmmi saying that he was looking forward to seeing the legendary safety play he had heard about... I regret to say that I didn't really play a huge amount of safety this match - I hope I didn't disappoint.

I do remember chasmmi sending the black flying around the table and almost into the pocket prematurely in quite a few frames, but he always got away with it. Anyway, 3 good opening frames ... excellent frames, in fact, because at the midway stage, after some decent play by both players, davis_greatest led 3-0.

Frame 4.... finally it seemed that chasmmi had one on the board for sure. However, a final black played a little too heavily, combined with a dose of very ill fortune, sent the white in-off at a tight angle into the middle pocket. 4-0.

Frame 5: both players had chances... a poor positional shot by davis_greatest, followed by a worse one, left him with no chance of potting the final black (and worse still, no real safety), other than by an optimistic double, which he missed. chasmmi pounced, potted his last ball, and then played a slow roll of the black to centre! But too slow! Black finished in the jaws! Unbelievable! davis_greatest didn't need to be asked twice: 5-0

Frame 6: chasmmi, ruing his luck, desperately wants to finish this match with more frames than Mike Hallett managed in 9 frames against Steve Davis in the 1988 Masters Final, or than Dean Reynolds managed in 10 frames against Davis in the 1989 Grand Prix Final. And chasmmi makes no mistake this time. A fine, solid finish seals it for him and the whitewash is averted.

                          Final score davis_greatest 5 - 1 chasmmi

Well played chasmmi... some bad luck there. Everything to play for in the final matches then!

Good luck, guys. If you two could draw, that would be ideal.

Whichever one falls behind, just let me know during the match and I'll see if I can give you some tips about the other's style of play.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news DG, but i have just beaten Marc 4-2.

It was a scrappy affair with neither of us finding any form or fluency. I missed many shots and gave Marc plenty of chances but fortunately for me he did not capitalise on all of them.

I think I made one or two less mistakes at crucial moments, which was all it came down to at the end.
