There is nothing in the article to say that he ever 'picked up' a cue before!

As the kid's alright it's OK to make the odd gag about it I guess:

It's a shame this will never be a caption competition:

      "Touching ball"
"Can you clean the ball please Michaela?"
"He'll be hoping he doesn't get a kick here"
      "Thorny snooker for Willy"
      "Anyone seen the triangle?"
"New rest causes consternation at Crucible"

        LOL rambon!

Perhaps you should suggest it is made an official caption competition. You might win a couple of tickets to a tournament.

"He'll he hoping his opponent doesn't ask to have that put back."

"Could I have the balls replaced?"

"I think he moved his body a little on the shot."

"He seems to play with a much lower bridge than most players. Still, it works for him."
"If anybody can knock these three balls in, this man can."
David Taylor, 11 January 1982, as Steve Davis prepared to pot the blue, in making the first 147 break on television.

"He's a little unlucky there; they could have broken up nicer than that"
"There's no easy 2-cushion escape from there Clive"
          "Get out of that!"
"Is that a plant to the bottom right corner Dennis?"

"I can't believe he chose to play it like that. Totally wrong choice of shot."

"This knowledgable Crucible crowd applaud, knowing that that was the ball he needed for the frame."

"Far too thick, John. He caught that almost half ball."

"Did he see the title, Dennis?"

"Well it's a stiff ask Willie, but I'm sure he'll be up to it"
"I think he might need a rest"
"Well it looked tight, but he seems to have found a way through"
"I'm not quite sure what he was trying to do there Dennis"
