DigiCam Help???

I bought a Digicam over the internet a week ago. It does not work on my comp!!! The brand is Wespro, the model is WSD 100. I got the driver cd with the cam. However, after I installed it, It says successfully installed. When I open the application program it says "Error in Connection".

I use Vista Ultimate. I asked a few of my friends they said I may need a driver for the cable and then another driver for the cam. I am not sure now. Could somebody help me please?

When I 1st plugged in the cam it said "USB Standstill camera". May this will help?

I would suggest you go to the manufacturer's webpage and download the drivers that you need from there! I'm sure you can find it/them there, probably along with some kind of manual...good luck!

It could be a problem with Vista rather than the cam itself.

I have heard that some devices will not be compatible with Vista, especially on the first version of it. You could try connecting the cam to another computer on another o/s, to see if you can isolate where the problem is ?

Yea it should be the application not compatible with vista, My 400D's application doesnt' run under vista (the part where it saves the photo onto hardrive), it works fine on XP.

Does your window reconise the camera? If so then it's definally the application. So what are you trying to do with teh app? for copying photos you can just do it through windows, and for editing you can use some other application like photoshop

Hi Ranen. To be honest, getting the application working probably isn't worth the trouble, manufacturers' software for this kind of thing is pretty dire at the best of times.

I'd tend to go down Sarmu's route and just use windows to get the photos off. With any luck the camera will have appeared in My Computer as an extra drive, so you can just drag the photos off in explorer. If not then there might be a driver issue, in which case I'd uninstall everything thoroughly and go back to windows basic drivers.

You never need a driver for a cable, and you shouldn't really need the provided driver for the camera either as Vista should be able to handle that.

Thanks, Rob and Sarmu. As I underatand from both of you, I do not need a cable driver? When I plug it in, It does not show up in My Computer. I have tried installing the drivers and uninstalling them but the cam doesnt show up in My Computer.

I also have XP on my comp. I dont know how to start my computer in XP?? Any suggestions?

If you've upgrade from XP to Vista, then I dont' think you can start xp anymore. You have to reinstall XP.

With the cam, turn your computer on, then plug in the usb cable with the camera attached to it, then turn on the camera, something should pop up, either says "camera found", "removeable storage found", or "unreconised device", if you get first 2 message, you can easily copy photos, if you get unreconised device then it's driver for the camera, and if you dont' get any message then it's the usb cable/plug's problem, try change them. Remember plug in the usb cable when your computer is turned on and also your camera needs to be turned on as well.

It says USB Still camera plugged in. It does not show up in My Computer though. This happens when I have installed the drivers for the Digicam. The Digicam switches on automatically when it is connected to the comp.
However, I dont get the cam as a storage device in My Comp. So, I thought maybe if I created a shortcut and named it as a drive would that work?
This worked for my MP3 player in XP.

Help! This Digicam is just like a toy to me now!

Is it detecting it as a web cam ? instead of a storage device? Try to find the lastest driver from Wespro is all I can think of

Vista is a pain in the *** HP still havn't updated a driver for my printer to work with Vista for now I have gone back to XP

As for accessing xp on your computer if you had xp and you copy of vista is not the upgrade but the full version you could roll back to xp and install vista as a dual boot system. then when you turn your computer on it would ask which operating system you want to launch.

I had to do this years ago with XP and Windows 98 as my photo printer did not have and still doesnt have a xp driver, so I had to keep win98 installed just to print pictures.

If you've installed over or XP, there is no way to rollback unless you reinstall

Are you sure!!! Microsoft have always had a roll back feature, just go into add and remove programmes, find windows vista and uninstall. Will probably take about an hour I remember I had to rollback from XP to win 98 once and it took ages. But worked fine.

Before you do anything too drastic to your computer's operating system, it might be worthwhile getting hold of a card reader and seeing if that shows up as a drive.

Card readers are pretty cheap and using one has other advantages as well. They normally communicate with the computer faster than the camera's USB connection. Also you do not have to worry about the camera's battery running low during a transfer.
