      Week 2 has commenced.

First result in - another draw.

      dannyd0g 4 Chasmmi 4

A fair result I would say. Both players played well in spells and both players took advantage of any mistakes from the other player. dannyd0g didnt do too much wrong apart from a tendency to keep screwing the white back into a pocket, leaving Chasmmi choice of ideal placement for the white at crucial times.

Just an idea but as the league has the potential to be upto 14 players competing instead of the top 4 going through would it be better to have the top 8 going through as else there could be some dead rubbers near the end.

I just played my second match - this one was against Alex0paul. I haven't played my first match yet (still waiting for Lee to install Messenger, I think!) but I didn't let basic maths stop me playing the second one.

I started extremely well. However, a series of kicks, bad bounces off the cushion and failure to be on the televised table all acted against me - Alex also employed dubious tactics like the old "pot a lot more balls than your opponent" trick. These all contributed to Alex winning the first three frames.

Frame 4 - again, Alex pots the final black, to go into a 4-0 lead, and keep his slim hopes alive.

Frames 5 & 6 - the table is recovered with a better cloth, and the difference is immediate. d_g takes both frames... now trails 4-2.

Frame 7 - an edgy one - Alex forgets the new rule that you have to pot all your balls before going for the black. He takes it on anyway, and strokes the black in. Unfortunately, the Yahoo ref decides to take the rules literally, and decides that as Alex still has a ball on the table, he should forfeit the frame. 4-3.

Frame 8 - all to play for. d_g changes his waistcoat, and it pays dividends, as he secures the draw.

          4-4

Well played, Alex - and thanks for the match. Good games (especially the last four).

Well I have finished my first fixture with Kat. A nervy start saw the first frames shared however it could easily have been 2-0 either way. In the third I was going strong on a break of 2 before I inexplicably potted the black ball resulting in Kat regaining her slim advantage at 2-1. As the game become much more flowing both players started to string together breaks but a crucial miss on her final ball in both frames saw myself go ahead 3-2. Kat then levelled the match before the longest frame of the match saw a series of misses and fouls before I took the lead. I closed out the match in the last frame after Kat, generous as ever started potting my balls. I guess she felt sorry for me after my nightmare match with davis_greatest where I through away a 4 frame lead. A good bowt of safety allowed me to snatch the frame thus winning 5-3.

I just finished my match with Marc, which started yesterday but was cut in two sessions because of limited TV time.

                        Saturday:
Frame 1, Marc gets a good chance for a clearance but doesn't take it. So Nina has no choice but to easily win.
Frame 2 comes down to the black, Marc does a great job and draws 1-1.
3 is a good frame, well played by both sides, Nina just gets the chance at the black first. 2-1.
Marc takes the lead in frame 4, Nina has a chance again but messes up a long pot (as usual). There are mistakes by both players, but Marc is patient and methodical and that pays off as the score becomes 2-2.
Last frame for Sat, Marc plays well but finds himself snookered at some point. Nina misses her last colour but ends up safe (lucky &*#*@ she is!) Marc misses at the end, score 3-2 to Nina.

                        Sunday:
Marc has a heavy head, and Nina has seen better mornings too. They pick up from the previous evening and Nina is afraid her good luck may have abandoned her in the new day.
Frame 6, Nina pots 6 balls but manages to snooker herself the way only she can! She escapes tho, and some safety play follows. Finally, the 4-2 to Nina.
Ok, at this point you'll allow me to be cocky, cause I don't often play this way. Steady hand, good choices, 5-2.
Last one, a little nervy. Marc plays safe but at this point Nina is very confident and wants the 6-2 win to make up for the 6-2 loss to elvaago. The lady gets what she wants, final score 6-2.

Thank you Marc, for the great fun and all your patience when I took ages to aim. Best of luck in the matches to follow.

Shame Nina and Marc weren't supposed to play until week 6.

Dannyd0g, how does Tuesday at 6 PM sound for our match?
