  • Just played A_G.

She took the first 2 frames completely in RaNeN style, potting everything in sight. Then I got my first chance and took it right away to make it 1-2. In frame 4 I handed her the frame by fouling white with just one ball left on the table even though I started out potting all of my 7 balls in a row. And frame 5 was handed to me by lady luck, the score was now 2-3.

Frame 6 deserves special mention. AG breaks off, I pot 7 balls, she pots 8 balls, end of rame. 2-4.

Frame 7 AG was on fire again and quickly made it 2-5 and finally in frame 8 elvaago showed some good form to only lose 3-5.

Well played by both players, very few mistakes. AG for the final!

            • Argh, seems like Mr. Vaago has put some pressure on me there. I assure you that I can easily be beaten, as my first three matches nicely show. But I played a total clearance today, so you can never really feel safe unless you pot the black *har har har*.

It also puts pressure on your opponents knowing they could be up against total clearances.

Any idea which day you might be able to play next week ?

So far we have I believe:

                      Semis: Elvaago, Dannydog

                      Sixes: RaNaN, Alex0paul, chasmmi

Tell me if this is inaccurate, (I think its fair to wait a week before concluding the possible vote as DGE is on holiday right now)
                      Thanks. Back now!

My personal preference is not to have knock-out matches in a league at all. I think that tournaments should either be knock-out or league, but not a mix. It always seems unfair to me that someone can win all his / her matches to finish top of the league, but then lose the tournament by losing one knock-out match to someone who finished lower in the league.

However, if that's not an option, then of the options above I prefer the "semis" option, so that gets my vote.

Having played Lee, I can tell you that he is so brilliant that, if he doesn't show up, the only fair thing would be to assume that he would have won all his unplayed matches 8-0. Because he is so good, anyone who did manage to play him should get quadruple points from that match and quadruple value for any frames won.

                        That's my vote, anyway!

(PS I think we should wait a few more weeks though.)

                          • Just to lewt you all know, Davis Greatest walked out of our match early so I propose to keep to precedent and suggest that he be deducted 900 points, fined 21,000 pounds and warned over future conduct.

I should also mention that in about frame 2 or 3, chasmmi announced "I give up."

When I began my celebrations over an 8-0 win, he started backtracking and claiming that he had not conceded the match at all - but had "given up metaphorically". I propose that he be hauled in front of a disciplinary panel, and then be taken out to lunch with Sir Rodney Walker metaphorically before being given a slap on the wrist by Graeme Dott, metaphorically.
