    • I just finished my match with Drlog147

Result is another draw for me at 4-4

Thats 4 draws can you believe it!!

I was a bit unlucky..potted black in middle of frame, and another frame potted both black and white..lol

overall it was a fair result i guess, and Drlog played and potted well, i was glad in the end to come from 4-3 down to square the match.

well played Drlog i enjoyed the chat.

      cheers!

      • I have also just played Drlog - and managed to loose this one 3-5 aswell.

The Dr played very well in parts, and certainly played better than me overall today.

Two successive defeats now sees me plumetting down the league and first place seems a long time ago now. Can only hope to get some form back soon.

        • I just played Nina!

It was a match dogged by a few technical problems. The first frame had to be restarted when d_g's table was not responding. According to d_g's notes: d_g was sitting waiting for 5 minutes for Nina to play her first shot, during which time apparently (she claimed) she "had already potted 4 balls" although d_g didn't see any such thing. According to Nina's notes: Nina was playing like a dream, and had already potted 4 balls but d_g (he claimed) "hadn't seen anything". Fortunately, d_g is writing the match report so his version stands.

Anyway, both had chances during the restart in frame 1, but the Greek gods were smiling on their woman... 1-0 to Nina. (So justice was done.)

Frame 2 - again, both had chances - but Nina unfortunately couldn't keep position on the final black.... d_g took it to level 1-1.

Frame 3 - with Nina's ball blocking the pocket for the black, d_g tried a sneaky one and tried to push both black and Nina's ball in. Nina's ball dropped, but black remained over the corner..... unmissable pot .... 2-1 to Nina!

          Frame 4 - a decent clearance by d_g, to level going into the mid-session interval ... 2-2!

Dinner nicely eaten... both players came out for the 5th frame.

A few more technical problems... d_g having to call a re-rack when on the final black, when his cue disappeared - however, he didn't complain too much as he happened to have snookered himself at the time. Apparently (and I promised Nina I would put this in ), there were two other occasions when the 5th frame had to be restarted with Nina ahead, due to d_g's "PC problems", although d_g has no recollection of this. Anyway, this time Zeus seemed to have gone for a coffee break and d_g was able to clear for a 3-2 lead.

Frame 6 - d_g remembered that it's the fans who are paying his wages... he decided to entertain them in style, potting the final black and sending the white into the jaws of the middle pocket. The white stayed balancing there, however - the crowd went ooooooooh: 4-2 to d_g.

Frame 7 - a memorable incident when the balls magically repositioned themselves after a nice "touching ball" snooker, so that there was no snooker any more... a bit of fun with the black, but d_g potted it to seal the match. 5-2 to d_g.

Frame 8 - it's good to see d_g still playing to the crowd as he spectacularly puts the white into the pocket on his break-off, for about the 3rd time in the match. Later, with the white stuck in the jaws, he plays a lovely shot that is barely 90 degrees off his intended direction of aim. Nina seizes full advantage - with just her last ball to pot, and ball in hand, she strokes it in and knocks in the final black!

          Final score: d_g 5 - 3 Nina.

Well played, Nina. Some very good shots, and also some great breaks while my PC couldn't see them! A close match, and the result could have been so different. (e.g. 6-2 or 7-1). (Only joking.) (8-0) Thanks for the game and good luck in the rest!

            • For the record the only outstanding match left is:

              Ellena vs Drlog147

The rest are currently up to date.

WIth regards to DGE, just incase he queries his match with Nina was included but his points did not change as his result against Lee was removed. Hence the only change is the frame difference which went up by 2 in his favour.

chasmmi, it was 5-3, not 6-2 ... so this will bring my frame difference back to what it was before before you removed my match against Lee!

                • Very honest of you Davey boy.

In fact as a reward for your honesty I may well restore your victory against Lee and let it stand.

The sad side effect of this will be Lee's technical defeat via walkover to every other league entrant thus giving the rest of us 8-0 victories.

Yeah yeah! Surely my suggestion in post 206 is the most sensible?

An alternative, if Lee does not resurface, would be to keep my result against Lee, but then at the end of the league multiply all the numbers in my row of the table by 10/11 (since I would have played 11 matches and everyone else 10).

Whats more 2 of the 3 people I have to play are below me so should be easy to beat :P

On the flip side I could look at it that my final three matches are last seasons two finalists and this seasons league leader

                            • I could put the score here in the title but then who would read the report?

I was honoured this evening to play austrian_girl – always destined to be an exciting match when playing someone who had avoided finishing a single match with a draw after 6 matches. a_g went into the match with her inflammatory Yahoo picture of a ponytailed Ebdon (), taken just after he had beaten Davis at the Crucible in 1992, but I avoided being upset by this provocation and kept my cool just as Davis had when gaining his 10-3 revenge on Ebdon the following year.

Frame 1 – a_g was very unlucky. Having been snookered on the black, which was over the centre pocket, she came off a cushion but unfortunately hit my ball first and then still knocked the black in. d_g 1 – 0 a_g

Frame 2 – a_g played a very nice shot, but was unlucky. I don’t remember what the shot was, or how she was unlucky (I presume she potted a ball and went in off, but I do remember her asking me to ensure that my comment “unlucky, nice shot” made it into the match report). So, nice shot, unlucky! Anyway, it wasn’t all unlucky for a_g, as d_g screwed off a cushion and into the centre pocket when playing position for the black. a_g finishes it… there's nothing to separate them ... it's 1-1!

Frame 3 – this time, a_g does exactly as d_g had in the previous frame! She put the white into the pocket while playing position for the final black! d_g was in no mood for letting a_g outsmart him by copying his own tricks, so he then did the same thing again. a_g comes back to the table, and now stops playing games of putting the white in… she pots the black…. d_g 1 – 2 a_g!

Frame 4 – a_g is on the final black, but the white is in the jaws and she is angled (although who could tell?) The white goes off in a random direction and fouls… d_g clears…. level at 2-2!

                              5-SECOND MID-SESSION INTERVAL

Frame 5 – d_g controversially pots one of a_g’s balls to clear it from the pocket – not a foul according to Yahoo’s rules, as he hit his own ball first. a_g is left snookered, opening the door for d_g to clear and take the lead again at 3-2.

                              Frame 6 – a_g unlucky again as things go d_g’s way - d_g 4 – 2 a_g.
d_g, knowing that a_g never draws her matches, thinks that this must be a good sign.

                              Frame 7 – some very nice potting by a_g… she clears and keeps the possibility alive of a draw… d_g 4 – 3 a_g … a draw - surely not?!

Frame 8 – a_g is in first with potting most of her balls. After a missed pot / botched safety by d_g (who knows what it was?), a_g takes on a very tricky double on the black into the centre pocket. But… a_g's run of bad luck continues… instead, she gets an unplanned treble into the corner…. Oh no, it's all over!!!

                              Final score: davis_greatest 5 – 3 austrian_girl

Good game and well played Kat… SO unlucky at the end Good luck for the remaining matches and thanks for the match!

                              • Wow, impressive report d_g! Well played, you deserved to win! There is nothing I can add to that really, except that the only time Ebdon and Davis ever met again at the Crucible was in the QF in 1996... and guess what... Ebdon beat him 13-10!!! Better watch out for the revenge
