I would recommend a nice Alsace Pinot Blanc, or even a Gruner Veltliner aus Austria. The Austrians used to put anti freeze in their wines (a big scandal) but to boost image they have really come up trumps the last couple of years.

yeah true in Belgian during the winter we added it to our fuel, was cheaper than antifrost stuff

okay then. crisp and fruity, citrus, light acidity. smooth on the pallet.

                    JUST ENJOY!!

                          Gran Tarapacá Viognier 2006

Viognier and Chile seem "to be made for each other" (Martin Isark, Scotland on Sunday) - and we couldn't agree more!

Under the expert guidance of winemaker Sergio Correa - who trained at Bordeaux and Davis in California - Viña Tarapacá uses state-of-the-art equipment, together with traditional, quality-driven techniques to keep all the pure, fresh flavours of their refreshing Viognier intact.

Brilliant gold in colour, with lively aromas of apricot and flowers, enhanced by citrus fruit flavours and a touch of honey. Deliciously opulent, the 2006 Gran Tarapacá Viognier is fantastic with lightly spiced chicken or fish dishes … but equally quaffable alone.

                          Enjoy!!

Appellation: Casablanca Valley Varietal: Sauvignon Blanc

Wine Review - Veramonte, Sauvignon Blanc 2005
                            Producer: Veramonte
                            Wine: Sauvignon Blanc
                            Vintage: 2005
                            Country: Chile
finally some class on this board, thanks to the soavey!

                            Grade: B+

In the pecking order of New World Sauvignon Blancs, I would generally rate the ones from Chile a close second to those from New Zealand. However, when I’m not in the mood for an overly-aggressive, citrusy, grassy wine that has become the calling card of N.Z.S.B., I reach for one from Chile…

                            Buy Veramonte 2005 Sauvignon Blanc
