Sourced from the Gualtallary district of Tupungato, 5,000 feet above sea level, this vineyard is the highest in Mendoza. Sandy and lime soils with a rocky sub-soil allow for excellent drainage. The low average temperature and wide thermal amplitude of this unique microclimate have so far shown incredible potential, providing fruit with explosive aromatics, rich, concentrated flavors, excellent natural acidity and pure elegance of style. The warm sunny days and cool mountain nights allow for gradual ripening of the fruit. This factor combined with the typically mild harvest season promotes prolonged cluster hang-time. The result is that the Viognier grapes achieve a full, well balanced maturity.
If it has these two words on the bottle; Faustino & Rioja then its fine with me.
Had a bottle of white Faustino a few year back, manager of Odd bins in Cirencester saved it for me. Was great but never seen another one since! probably because of the price tag.
But a Duvel beer as well PTS - enjoying one right now before traveling to China tomorrow - and missing some interesting :snooker: till next Friday.
But at least I know the delicate subjects not to talk about

PMSL Wim. remember a "nosh" isnt a beer over there....
I am on the last drops! Got one in the fridge. South African Sauvignon blanc. Will open it if Mat pinches another frame.
China wim? You are travelling nicely my son! Going to the olympics?
The Olympics ? yeah I wish Paul. No, just traveling for the company.
Not that China is my favorite destination ...but I don't want to trigger another diplomatic incident by telling more
Yes, this is one of the AOC wine areas in the Loire region. Is it called vin gris? I think it is a blend of pinot minieur, pinot gris and pinot noir. subtle, fresh and round full taste I would say. I normally drink rose only in spring, summer or sunny autumn day as well. La Palma rose from chile is one of my favourites and Chateau puy servaine, Bergerac, but cannot get the last one here.
I just tried another Prosecco (spumante), I really somehow don't like those. They're all too sweet somehow.
Yesterdays sparkling wine (Graham beck) from South Africa was ok, though.
Gosh, I sound like a heavy drinker.
I am not a sparkling wine man myself to be honest. Once in a while. Champagne is overrated imo. I prefer Blanquette de Limoux, south of France or Cava from Spain.
Prosecco is indeed the new trendy thing (though it has been there for decades)!
Cheers (where are the bubbly smileys from the beeb?)
