  • Thursday was not just one of those days there in the Tour de France, it was the day that the arrival was on the hights of the Legendary Tourmalet. The rain and the smog made it even more mythical. I wouldn’t have missed it for all the money in the world.
But Schleck and Contador – I agree they are great riders – showed how little sportsman they really are.
First there was Schleck begging, like a little boy, Contador to let him win the stage.
And then , only possible in my worsest dream, Contador agreed and didn’t take the most heroic victory possible on the Tourmalet, and even allowing Schleck to give him a hug just after that. It's again all ethics of sport.

And today Alberto Contador proved he is the well deserved winner of the Tour 2010.

    • Schleck wasn't asking to have the stage given to him he was trying to rile Contador and have him go through to the front on the climb so he could then try and pass him. Alberto tried once to attack but didn't have the strength to drop Andy. He also couldn't drop Contador either.
Just a pity Schleck dropped his chain on Tuesday as the result might have been a lot different. Contador was on the limit today after the climbs but was a worthy winner apart from attacking when he knew Schleck had mechanical problems.

It has been a great tour though and I am looking forward to many more battles with the two of them.

      • Indeed the difference between them is getting very small. Andy's progression has been significant and (nearly) making his as strong as Contador.
        But details decided this Tour.
I think Contador should be more worried than Schleck for next year.
