One place to visit for a day

If you could pick one place to visit, anywhere on earth, only for a day (minus travelling) which is at least 100km from where you live, where would you choose to spend that day, and why?

WHY????? I am working in Switzerland at the moment and just want to get away, but still 2 more years to go... If you want to go hiking and things like that, though, I guess it's nice.

i've always wanted to visit the south of Europe. Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece. first thing on my mind now, Barcelona.

I'd probably visit Segesta, as it has one of the most interesting Greek temples

Interesting thread Sem. For me without doubt its the west coast of Ireland. Travel through stopping at the bars, music halls and guest houses meeting interesting local people, listening to traditional Irish music, view some incredible scenery and enjoying Guinness so smooth a pint goes down in one gulp.

I very like skiing! I skied in Poland and here in Ukraine, but Switzerland is better, but I haven't got so much money!

I'd probably go to Hawaii. I like the Big Island, and I think I would like seeing the Kona Coast. Hawaiians call good weather 'Kona weather', which is a pretty good sign, I think.

Ah, I don't like skiing, but I guess for skiing it is nice here, just if you are not interested in sports it's rather bad (at least around Geneva)

the thinking behind it was to see if folk could just choose only one place, and if they managed that, then to see what their reasoning was for it being that one special place theyd pick

one, for ideas for myself to visit, if i hadnt heard of (or planned to go) there.

and two, cos its a good way of finding out about folk without being too personal where theyve got a wide range from which to post about, in depth, or not.
