  • 2005 Lords Ashes Cricket Test Ticket

    Hi all,
Has anyone on this forum attended a Cricket Test at Lords before?

Anyone know what it might cost to go to the Ashes Test at Lords on July 21-25? I will be in London then, so would like to attend at least one of the days.

Are there tickets for ground entry only and/or cheap seats or are they all top-end seating? Any info would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Alan.

I have been to Lords and the Oval although it was a while ago. As far as tickets are concerned - I would be surprised if there are any left for the tests but dont expect much change from 40-60 quid through normal routes and be prepared to pay a hell of a lot more via a dirty stinking ticket tout.

I went to an Ashes match at Lords back in the 1970s. Match ended in a draw. The day I was there Edrich got a century (might even have been a 147, not sure ... )

This fascinating series of cricket matches resumes again this week, starting Wedneday in Cardiff.

      COME ON ENGLAND !!

superaussie - with due respect to you (ie absolutely none at all cos you're Australian) the first post in this thread is dated 2005 ... do you remember what happened the last time you sheep-shaggers visited us or would you like me to remind you

in the words of William Blake ...

And did those feet in ancient time
          Walk upon England's mountains green?
And was the holy Lamb of God
          On England's pleasant pastures seen?
          And did the Countenance Divine
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
          And was Jerusalem builded here
          Among those dark Satanic mills?

Bring me my bow of burning gold:
Bring me my arrows of desire:
Bring me my spear: O clouds, unfold!
Bring me my chariot of fire!
I will not cease from mental fight,
Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand
          Till we have built Jerusalem
In England's green and pleasant land.

Ah yes, the Barmy Army! Dontcha just love em? (Good thing they don't turn up at snooker tournaments though ... !)

Well I guess it's about honours even after the fIrst day's play, at 336 for 7. (And no rain stoppages either which makes a change.)

I think Hilfenhaus was probably the pick of the Aussie bowlers. Pietersen threw his wicket away and G. Boycott said "Hauritz couldn't 'ave got my Moom out, but Pietersen joost 'anded it to 'im on a plate, stupid twit."

Today is looking good for a great second day's play!

I thought 435 was a pretty good 1st innings score but the aussies have batted brilliantly. Our bowlers haven't really been doing much and i'm hoping this match ends in a draw. It's going to rain over the weekend apparently so it does look that way. Maybe Steve Harmison deserves a recall for the 2nd test given his fantastic form with Durham.

I'm going to be a whinging Pom now and have a moan about the England team. To start with, I can't understand why Harmison wasn't selected for this test. I'm also not happy with Strauss's captaincy so far - for example, why wasn't Flintoff given the new ball in the first over of the Aussie innings? And why have there been such negative field placings at times, particularly when Panesar was bowling?

it will be a draw - us Welsh know when it's time to switch the rain on!!

Lords Tests - I used to go to loads of Tests.
I can remember queueing overnight to get gate admission to England v Aus tests.

Nowadays tickets cost a fortune and I don't know if you can still get just the ground admission tickets.
