We need some rain in Cardiff tomorrow or it looks like the aussies will go 1 up! As Smersh mentioned we haven't been impressed with Strauss' tactics so he really needs to deliver a big captains innings tomorrow to save the game. A couple of early wickets and we are doomed basically.

Our bowling attack just doesn't seem up to scratch, i just can't see us taking 20 wickets. Harmison needs to be brought back and maybe Graeme Onions too- who bowled really well in the series against the West Indies. Broad and Panesar may have to step aside. I think one spinner is enough for Lord's. Just think if we can escape this match with a draw then we can re-group and formulate some new plans for the aussie batsmen.

Let is rain, let it rain...

Pathetic and not at all surprising how im hoping for rain on the final day! Always the bloody same.

just looked at the Met Office's rainfall predictions for Cardiff Sunday and I wouldn't hope too much for rain to save us ...

but I'm quietly confident we can bat it out for a draw ... after all, KP wouldn't even think about trying to show-off like he normally does given the dire situation we are in ...

Unbelievable effort from the tail to get out of jail. It could be a defining moment when the series is over. We looked doomed at 70-5 but Colly played a phenomenal inning well supported by the bowlers. As for Monty and Anderson- GET IN!! Roll on Lord's.

The batsmen have to pull their finger out in the 2nd test and deliver. It looks like a couple of changes will be made to the bowling attack too, so hopefully our dreadful record against the aussies at the home of cricket will be a thing of the past.

I thought the tactics at the end were spot-on!! Lets regroup now, bring Harmison back and get the first win against Asutralia at Lords since 1934!

Slight misunderstanding - but he was definitely the slowest at sprinting to the middle. Anything to wind up Ponting!

If we play like that for the rest of the series then we're going to get hammered

We're known for our poor starts to test series though, so hopefully we can improve, but we don't usually have much luck at Lords against the aussies.

Be nice to see Harmison come back.

it could be a long, long and painful summer but the good news from that Test is our tail can wag ... as Strauss said in his post match interview, it's the batsmen who need to perform, we shouldn't have to rely on the tail to do the job the batsmen should have done ...

but yes, Harmison is our best strike bowler so I'd like to see him back too ... clearly he's a bit of a loose cannon but when he's firing in the right direction, he can't half take wickets and even better, scare the **** out of opposition ...

mindu, going back to the tail wagging ... I'm probably wrong cos I'm fat, old and ugly and my brain doesn't work so well these days ... but going back to the 2005 series, didn't Collingwood and the tail (Ashley Giles in particular) save a couple of tests for us?

so in this one, well done tail! I'm not a betting man but I wonder what odds you could have got for Panesar surviving 40 minutes of, presumably, the Aussies best bowling attack on a 5th day wicket?

A 5th day wicket that didn't really do much, it was as flat as a pancake.

I don't have Sky so I haven't seen any video although all the pundits (including Ponting and Strauss I think) did say the wicket was particularly flat ...

but nevertheless, the session stats on our second innings are something like ... 2 wickets down on the Sat afternoon, 3 wickets down Sunday morning session ... who would give us a chance for our tail to last two full sessions?

                                but they did!

BTW, I am not saying we're brilliant cos we are not ... I'd just like to see some of our supposed mainline batsmen apply the same determination our tail did ... in fact, I think the tail had to deal with a new ball (ie the top batsmen we're all dismissed within 80 overs when the new ball comes) ...
