It's only the tours abroad that he has said he wasn't able to handle. He is scoring well for Somerset, average of 78... against this current Australia team I can see him doing well.

Agreed, we need Flintoff back, but it's a one-off game where some changes to the batting order need to be made.

correct bopara needs dropping. id like to see the trescothick/strauss opening partnership again for the oval.

Would have liked to have seen Trescothick back but he's ruled himself out. I agree Bopara needs dropping or maybe being pushed down the order, he certainly isn't a number three batsmen. Mark Ramprakash seems like the only option available now and why not?? His form in the last three years has been sensational and the final test will be played at the Oval which is of course his home ground, so you would think he'll know the conditions better than anyone.

It's a one-off game now and i'm sure every English player will give his all and ensure the Ashes come back where they belong!

          COME ON ENGLAND

where are all the Aussies when we need them? this is getting a bit like 2005 all over again ...

what a fabulous afternoon session! 8 Aussie wickets for something like 80 runs ... although to be fair to our antipodean friends, by all accounts (I only heard the radio commentary), two of those wickets were clearly not out on replay ...

whilst we (England) are in a good position, we are quite capable of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory ... and we're 3 wickets down ...

my prediction ... if Strauss and Trott are still both in at lunch, England win ... if one of them is still there at lunch with one or two wickets down, I'd still favour England just about ...

if the Aussies (fired up, of course) bowl them over in the first hour tomorrow, oh dear, I don't want to think about that too much ... maybe Freddie to save us? hopefully ...

but bring it on ... the series is poised for a great finale ... may the best team win (as long as it's us!)

Just looked at the scorecard... when you start thinking that England are in a reasonable position at 85-3......you've got to laugh.
