  • Any Nick Cave fans?

    Hi,

As you may guess from my name, i'm a big fan of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds.

So i ask - any other fans on here & what are your favourite songs?

My Nick Cave top 5 would be:-

    Deanna
(Are You) The One That I've Been Waiting For?
    The Weeping Song
    Red Right Hand
There She Goes, My Beautiful World.

Can't say that I'm a huge fan, though I've got the murder ballads around here somewhere. Hm. Should give it another listen, good autumny music.

He has done some great work with other artists, including Kylie Minogue. Only song I ever liked with her in it is Where the wild roses grow (clicky for Semih). I think he also did work quite a lot with Shane MacGowan? (Cave & MacGowan - What a wonderful world)

A German band called Pain of Progress, which no longer exists, did a cover version of The Weeping Song. With bagpipes. It's also on Eric Fish's CD "Auge in Auge", same singer, no bagpipes.

So much music, so little time!

Cheers Maija....i quite like that song (not really heard much of NCATBS)

the name does crop up in music circles regularly, without them being "on the tip of everyones tongue"

Here are two others, which I like very much:

            The Ship Song

            Henry Lee (with PJ Harvey)
"Talking about music is like dancing about architecture." (Elvis Costello)
"It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice." (John Cassis)

Great stuff guys - yes NC doesn't really get the exposure he deserves. Very well known & respected in the music mags, but chart-wise has had very little success. Which is no bad thing IMO as it has kept him untainted by commerical pressure.

One of the very few artists who hasn't gotten worse with age - quite the opposite in fact.

YouTube is a good place to check out his work -plenty of videos & performances from "Later", etc.

I haven't ever had the pleasure of seeing him live, but he has a new album coming out with the Bad Seeds next March entitled "Dig Lazarus Dig" and is going on tour - i'll keep you informed.

Been into him a few years now but latecomer.

My admiration just increases and increases. One of few great songwriters - such as L Cohen, R Newman, E Costello (almost).

I listen to little else and am discovering more songs not so well known.
