  • Where is everyone?

Since the new site has launched.. i have looked at the number of online members and they are considerably less then before?? Whats up? I see an average of 20 people on whereas before there used to be about 80....

It does seem a little strange with the UK on at the moment. Maybe everyone has flocked to Telford?

Maybe it's because the members are deleted from the online users list after they haven't been active for 15 minutes? I think earlier the time was an hour?

The number of new posts and threads is pretty healthy, picking up by the day since the downtime at the weekend, and the number of registered users online is now only slightly below what we had before.

The main hit to the 'online users' count that everyone is noticing is that we've lost a lot of guest traffic - that's because google and everywhere else still link to the old forum and it's still getting a huge number of hits. The next thing on my list of things to do is to set up some redirect pages that'll automatically forward people to the corresponding thread on this new board.

a lot of the who is online traffic was made up of web spiders, but we did see a big drop in users, or at least a few users thought we did, but hopefully now the pages look the same, folk will want to stay a bit more knowing that the major work is done and that its tweaks etc that are left to do (not saying whats left is easy or isnt time consuming, just that it looks normal)

some people, like myself, have had a run of bad luck...lol. that's why I haven't checked in on a regular basis.

my dog got his leg broken by a car. I broke a tooth and a cap costs $700, usd. Friday, two weeks ago, I found out that my bank account had been hijacked which left me with 3 insufficient funds checks and $51 in overdraft charges. to make things better, my house almost went up in flames on that same Friday. it was an electrical short. lost my central heating unit and my computer in the fiasco.

other than those few setbacks, I'm doing fine. life goes on with the promise of a better 2008.

.....still wondering when my "Luck of the Irish" will come around...lol.
