  • What is happening now on this board?!

I have read a discussion on the edit thread between a member and a moderator/admin/owner. I think its quite unprofessional. I am of the opinion the admin should have taken the discussion into PM or Mail with the member and explain the issue instead of coming on and posting several sarcastic posts. I hope this is an incident. Furthermore, to censor the thread is out of proportion as well. To close it, okay, but denying access to read is a Northern Korea strategy.

Sorry, this is all I am going to say about it.

I had used a option that puts hegeland on everybodys ignore list for 48 hours to give him some time to chil lout a little and go back to read the threads a few times.

Sorry didn't realise that this option would not allow everybody access to these threads. The option would of infact still allowed hegeland to access the forum and read everything.

I still think he should take a few days off and be back with us in time for the snooker, so instead I will put a time limited (48 hours) ban on his account.

It is not my intensions to ban, moderate or in anyway deny access to anything posted on the forums but when I turn a forum feature off (and only for 48 hours) I do not expect a reaction like this especially when it has been explained.

If I found a feature on the forum that a hacker could use to access the database and get all of your email and contact details and I didn't turn it off to be fixed then what?

Would you like me to make a poll and ask everybody should we turn it off or leave it on?

When I first saw this my heart sank, I thought, oh my god one of the 606 crowd is at it!
      Behaving badly.
Then I find beneath the surface even here have their problems, and after all that tut tutting and holy joe attitudes on the "final nail in the coffin of 606" thread. Ah well wouldnt you just know it.

I am not discussing the topic, but only mentioning that explanation and maybe the not so gentle approach by the member should have been discussed /warned through a PM or mail, if available. I understand technical issues have to be considered and something had to be switched off during 48 hours. No problem for me there.

Indeed! And with a couple of drinks too many perhaps, things can get out of hand a bit fast!

Son of cliff, your father was one of the best players I have ever seen in my life, this generation do not know what they missed. He was the best single ball potter the game has ever seen, and I have seen them all.

Thanks for that mate nice to see him still remembered, he was an outstanding potter. the world did not see the best of him as his eyes were that bad he could not play properly under the television lights, but in the club enviroment he was unreal for example he made 40 centuries in a week against me and some of the locals thats not including all the 80s and 90s he also made.

yes he was indeed a world class potter.

back on topic - i think, with the greatest respect ferret, its a little bit draconion to censor and react this way, personally i have always found hegelands posts to be of a high standard and i don't believe his comments merited the sarcasm they got, whether justified or not his concerns were genuine and heart felt.

its always a shame to see forum members falling out especially over something trivial so lets hope we can get back to normal for sunday folks.

Now this is a restriction that has a more immediate effect on the board than changing the edit function. It'll prevent members from discussing (the board) because they'll think at least twice about expressing their opinion, knowing they could be banned for it quickly.
Ferret, I don’t know what's going on behind the curtains but from what I can read in the threads I don't think banning hegeland temporarily is adequate.

Concerning the editing function, since the threads are closed, as of now how will it be changed?
