  • TSF/606 discussions

I realise that we have recently had a number of new members who have "arrived from" the 606 site. However, I do not see this as an opportunity to make a distinction between those who are 606 members and those who are not.

I certainly hope that people will not be perceived or treated differently on such a baseless criterion.

I think we can all play our part in making sure threads stay on topic – whoever we are and whoever we are conversing with.

If there is a topic that you want to reply to, make sure you're replying to the content of the message and not just replying for the sake of it. Whether you are agreeing or disagreeing, why not back yp your comment for your reasons for agreement or disagreement?

Turning threads into a discussion about TSF/606 and their members does nothing for either site and only sidetracks us down roads that neither site needs to explore. It happens here and at 606 and both sites are all the poorer for it.

So please, let's not discriminate so indiscriminately! Life's too short for such rubbish.

Please note that I write this as a member and not as a moderator (my administratorship is in place mainly to allow me to open threads in the Prediction Contest and I rarely use these powers for other purposes.)

And, of course, have a nice day.

Statman, do you think the 606 members here have been abused just because they are from 606? To be honest, I don't like reading when one of new members posts something about other new member from 606, about their behaviour on 606. I don't think that is right, and if they can't sort it out in private, why spoil it for the other people?

Other than that, I see there are new faces on the forum and more (snooker and offtopic) discussion going on, which is good.

Some members on this forum tend to behave as if they own this forum. All people interested in snooker should get a fair chance to have their say here without being labeled as 606 or whatever. No reason why the majority of 606 members shouldn't be nice and not capable to contribute here; there could be some new interestings opinions.
So I do agree with Statman's view, it' s quite democratic.
I saw that going differently in my mind

Thank you Statman. A balanced view as always ...
Also a significant number of persons here are member from both forum ... for some time already. So? Yes lets avoid the "Us and Them" attitude.

        Welcome to all new members.

I don't know why more people post on 606 rather than here. There's only a 60second rule compared to the 3 minutes over there. There is not a single thing that is better about that site than this one. The mods have got everyone arguing amongst themselves when all the problems over there have been caused by them

Could not have said it better. lets not label anyone. My roots are Five Live 606, and still have a weak spot for it. And agree, could add some lively discussions. The ROS/Higgins/Williams thread was actually a good thread, imo too few of those on this forum.

I remember posting a thread on here, about Dott not winning the China Open, as chances of winning consecutive tournaments (the worlds was the next and he would have broken The Crucible Curse) are very slim. I got slagged off, as some indicating I wanted Dott to lose The China Open, which was not said at all by myself. This also spurred me to have a (not justified) wreckless go at some and later made me hesitant to add any new discussions (though you would not say it from my post count)

No, but I think there is a perception of it. I'm not saying it's anyone's fault particularly; just circumstance maybe.

The old adage of 'not just ... but seen to be ...' springs to mind.

I was a member of 606 for a while and had lurked previous to joining too. I did not actively take part because I was simply astonished at what some posters were getting away with.
This won't happen here and I personally welcome all sensible posters from 606 to the forum.
