    Reverse Side
Where did i state that chalking was part of a technique? It is part of a drill which most players will do either deliberately or subconsciously and no it will not help you pot balls, only skill and judgement will do that. But chalking your cue will enable you to fulfill the majority of shots. Can you really say that you would be confident playing a shot tight under the cushion without the use of chalk?

As for a screw in rubber tip combo, whatever turns you on!

I agree with you that addressing the cue ball is part of the technique (or 'make up' as you've put it here) of playing a snooker shot, but in your own fair hand you're saying at the same time that chalking is part of it - or is this quote someone else using your login?

What shot selection do you want an appraisal of the probability of a successful outcome from next?

      How about this?

Wonder if he'd feel confident if he hadn't chalked his tip for that?

Chalking will not not 'enable you to fulfill the majority of shots', only a sound technique and practice will do that, a novice won't immediately be able to carry off (or fulfill as you put it) a deep screw just because he's dabbed some Green Triangle product on his Blue Diamond. Or as you've said in the past that buying a John Parris cue won't make you play like a Pro.

If a tip was designed that you needn't chalk or use a baby wipe on it and it was fit-for-purpose, then you'd need to retract ...

As people would soon get over their OCD of rubbing their tips.

Talking of the combo; it isn't as hugely erotic for me as you're thinking, just an improvement that isn't impossible if we can put a man on the moon; we should be able to stop two spheres reacting unpredictably with potentially dire consequences if the right people put their heads together. We should also give consumers a product such as a screw-in tip if it performs well and can remove the awkward time it takes to 'bed the tip in'.

Anyhow.... any more questions for Ferret's list that he'll be expecting some suggestions from heing emailed but just getting a 'twiglet Reverse_side banter alert' instead?

Bet you wish you could rewrite your posts eh?

        you are sad!!
I cannot believe that you will trawl through loads of posts in order to cause a debate, get a life mate!
i couldn't give a stuff about rewriting my posts, words can be twisted around in any case if people are that way inclined.

Potting and positioning is based on skill, and chalk doesn't help in your opinion. Well next time don't put any chalk on you Parris cue with it's blue diamond tip.

Like you say this is not helping Ferret and his quest for questions for his interviews.

Pull my post to bits if you like, if it keeps you off the streets fair enough LOL

Note to Ferret.. skip to end for possible inclusion in your Stevo Q&A.

If I actually remember what you've said, why would I need to trawl through the site? You seem to have forgotten that this is a FORUM, a place where opinions are aired for others with a similar background to share experiences and thoughts - pity you that can't cope with some harmless banter. Have you thought you could even be flattered if someone bothers to spend their time and effort replying to you anyway? No. In fact, wasn't it you that I posted up an animated Birthday Cake, if it was, you never moaned about my reactions to that information.

Now what are you misquoting me on; are you serious, where have I said chalk doesn't help when playing a shot? get over yourself, the closest I came is when I talked about plain ball shots or that chalking is not part of your technique. (Chalking simply ends up as a necessary routine whereas an element of a 'technique' is something that requires skill and lengthy practice to improve how good you are it)

Widen your experience and allow yourself to appreciate someone else's opinions - you might learn something. Try not to focus on the negative so much.

Also, I doubt Steve Davis will appreciate someone saying, "It's a great a achievement you can play so well at your age Steve"!!!! you'd be friends for life.

Lastly, be careful what you say in this Forum too, flaming is not something that will be tolerated from you if you carry on the way you are. You'd normally be calling someone sad who is incapable of innovative thinking, anal, uninspiring, vacuous, boring etc etc.

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, to come full circle and focus on helping Ferret, have you any serious contribution to his fantastic opportunity of asking the ultimate Leg-End what makes him tick??????

I think I'd like to know off Steve (reliving how he reacted after getting the first ever televised competitive 147), what equivalent milestones for the modern day player are left that they could be as astonished and amazed as he obviously was?

It's all very noble to repeat the feats of the past, but it takes the very special among us to be the first to do something that incredible - no coincidence then that there were 15 more 147's in only the next 10 years of the sport.

Banter is all well and good reverse side, however it is clear that a sentence in a forum can be turned around in order to spark a debate. I called you sad as i knew i would get a reaction out of you, as that is exactly what you wanted in order to carry on this meanless debate.

Not once did you mention plain ball in any of your posts, i may have made a mistake in using the term "technique" instead of "drill". But that is no excuse for this debate to go overboard, you are intelligent enough i think to work out what i initially meant.
but hey we all can't be as perfect as you. We bow to your superior knowledge.

Stating "that chalk doesn't help in your opinion" is just using the same kidology that you have been using in your post directed at me. Apologies if you don't like being misquoted, perhaps you can appreciate how it feels like now! Hopefully you can widen your experience and acknowledge another person's perspective.

Steve Davis actually said that he is delighted to be competing at HIS AGE and it is a remarkable achievement despite your opinions on the remark that i made. I somehow doubt that the likes of O'Sullivan will still be an ambassador to the sport like Steve has been when he is in his late 40's. So please do not put my remarks out of context, if i use the same yardstick as you, then you are as guilty as i am in this forum.

As for Ferret, i hope the interviews go well. I'm sure it will be a brilliant piece of work-best wishes with it!

As my Mum would say, next time you look... open your eyes. Or wait a minute, could you be trying to engage me in some psychological baiting exercise again oh masterful one? (ignore that man behind the curtain) I've got better things to do than continually respond to the likes of you, so no, I'd wouldn't have wanted you to spark off another chapter; I'd've wished for you to have acknowledged a few things quicker and moved on. But as it is, I've quite enjoyed toying with you and hopefully the other readers will have been amused if they've the time to wade through this thread.

Kidology is normally for between friends or kids, so neither applies here (25 is it) and if you were that eager to curtail a 'meaningless debate' you wouldn't continue to fan the flames. You have no power to extract a reaction, courteous and polite is the least I could give you. As Science would say... "Y'Get Me".

"At his age"... It's okay for Steve to say it, but he wouldn't thank you for saying it to his face; wait for the poor guy to retire first then attempt a backhanded compliment. You infer that I don't think his achievements are remarkable - blind caribou how you try and make that assumption.

'Yardstick'?? schmardstick, 'Guilty'??... no idea or NRG for whatever you're failing to make clear there. Steve will be 48 on 22nd August this year.

Lastly..... add any questions you like to this thread for the Refs, Matthew or to Steve if you really want to. You have an opportunity to quiz one our greatest players and you're wasting the opportunity. How about asking where you'll be able to read Ferret's scribings after he's written it all up?

Well thats an easy one :-) www.JestersSnooker.co.uk

I'll give you all a page that I have not yet released on the main website goto www.JestersSnooker.co.uk/snooker/hook_rest.htm I will not be releasing this page for another week atleast :-)

I think I have enough questions for steve now but a few for Jan would be great :-) well any questions for any player really I now have access to alot of the top players, I just don't want to go and interview all of them at once and have nothing new to put onto the website for 6months, its all baout spreading it about, I have 6 other pages ready to publish but I shall only put 1 new page a week up at the moment to try and get people coming back.

                Cheers

                Kev

Ooops so i missed the word plain ball, apologies again, but i think you knew what i was getting at, seeing as you have stated that you have enjoyed toying with me!!!

I have no wish to wade through thread upon thread in order to prove a point, something that sadly you don't mind doing. You really should do more with your life accept other people's viewpoints and move on, perhaps watch Big Brother or something i really don't know?

You are quite dillusional, i have got a reaction out of you, just like you have got one out of me, its only that one of us is man enough to admit it!!
Anyhow how do you know that Steve would take the comment personally, didn't know that you two were such great friends and engaged regular kidology sessions!! get a grip!!!

Thanks for the link Ferret, again i wish you well on the research!

Think your last statement is a bit hypocrical coming from you anyhow sir!!
I dont mean to sound childish Ferret but he started it first lol, but lets not forget who began this "toying business" in the first place that would be Reverse Sad no less.

It is a forum after all, and a daft slip up by myself has led to this childish behaviour, Damn i wish i could rewrite my posts!! Never mind i have a toned for the errors of my ways i'll not make any further apologies if i have typed out of turn LOL!!

Reverse side send Steve my apologies about my apparent age discrimination next time you see him!! LOL!!
Perhaps on August 22nd when your invited to his birthday bash!! "y'get me"

Smile Reverse side-i'm only having a bit friendly banter with you?

                        Are we still friends?
