I am here not to derogate the England players, but you know they've been always overrated. They didn't quality for FiFa world cup in 1994 and now they could only stay at home to watch the Euro 2008, they have never defeated Sweden since 1968,they've got some kind of psychological problems against Portugal(even Romania).........they are not like a team full of world class players. You should not always complain the managers, the injury-plagued ,the bad luck....when your team lose the games.

For sure England players are not as good as their fans make out.

Let's say there are 2 groups of world calss players, then players of England would be in the second group.
We'd have to agree to disagree, there's not a manager in world football that wouldn't take those two. Steven Gerrard has underachieved in some matches for England, as with pretty much their entire squad, but the top managers in the world (the experts) would all sign him in in a second! Doesn't anyone agree

By the way I'm an impartial Scotsman, but I know a good player when I see one.

Anyway this is about the teams that WILL be playing, my point was it's a shame for the most talented team not there.

Yes I am, I'm not English and I don't put any stock in nationality because that's a negative thing! We're all just brothers from other mothers to me but that's a personal thing...

If you think there's a better team that's not there that's your opinion . Personally I've been a huge football fan for 20 years and as I said I know a good player when I see one. If you had a list of people that have called Terry and Gerrard world class you'd probably have the managers of all the best clubs and countries in the world, and that's not my opinion it's fact.

Anyway back to the teams that are there! I've not been one of the many that fancied Spain in the past, but I think this is their year. The French and Italians always had better teams than the Spanish in the last 10 years but I don't thnik that's the case now.

It's not an issue that how many years you've been watching football, I have been a football fan for almost 20 years too.

And you know Pele's been in the football field for more than 50 years and he's arguably the best player in football history but he always backs the wrong horse.A team with the players you think are world class haven't shown world calss quality in internatinal stage for a long time.

Anyway, let's close this discussion and focus on the Euro 2008,focus on the teams with truly world class players.

There's no reasoning adr, I give up lol.

But how do you explain this

During his career Steven Gerrard has won the PFA Young Player of the Year, PFA Player of the Year, European Midfielder of the year, Premier League Most Valuable Player (twice), and UEFA Most Valuable Player. He has also been awarded the MBE for his outstanding contributions in both the 2005 UEFA Champions League Final and the 2006 FA Cup Final in which he greatly inspired his team's comeback. He has been nominated three times for the FIFA Player of the Year, in 2005, 2006 and 2007. On 5 February 2008, it was announced he had been voted by fans as the Nationwide England Player of the Year for 2007.

Steven Gerrard, the only non-world class player to be nominated for the FIFA World Player of the Year 3 years running!

Yes Dooraq, thank you for your support.

I just hope anyone from group C or D will win it. This tournament has been a cock up before the start. Just look at the groups, Any team from C or D would beat 7 out of the 8 teams from A and B easily. Switzerland or Austria wont even stand a change against any country in group C. Its the Uefa shambles again.

Furthermore, normally 2 qualifiers from the first round, lets say Italy, France or Holland could only meet in the final again, thats the way the format has been used in Fifa and Uefa over the last decades. But!!! Just a couple of weeks before the start Uefa changed the format where C and D strong teams will meet in the semis already. This means for instance Germany cant meet Italy, France, Holland, Sweden, Spain or Russia (all favorites) in the semis. England and BBC legends Shearer and Hanson mentioned this tonight (BBC are always knowledgable on this account) where the rest have dug their heads into sand pits! I am gunning for Rumania on this account.

I presume you mean the one team is Germany. I have to disagree with you as Portugal, Croatia and Czech Republic are better than half the teams in Group C and D.

Also I can't believe you think Sweden and Russia are one of the favourites!
