I'm not that really bothered with croatian match, IMHO germans will still go out from the group, together with croats. More interesting how Holland is gonna play against Romania. If Romania wins, both world cup 2006 finalists are outZIPPIE FOR CHAIRMAN

In the Turkey v Czech republic match tonight both teams are locked on the same number of points, have the same goal difference, goals for and goals against. If it finishes in a draw this match is apparentlty going straight to penalties.
Does anyone else think this is very strange. In previous tournaments if the same situation crops up it's normally a coin-toss. I understand that the toss of a coin isn't an ideal way to settle a result, however, I don't think this rule is too fair....
The reason for this is that there could be two teams in one of the other groups that have had a draw between them after 1st or 2nd game and then play different teams to finish, if they then finish on exactly the same points, goal difference etc then it's not possible to have aone-off penalty shoot-out because the team could be 200 miles apart. You can't exactly turn up just for penalties either the day after you've had a match.
So, can anyone clarify what is going on with this? Would penalties take place in both situations??

No if they play different teams they use the qualifying coefficients from the World Cup 06 and Euro 08 qualifiers (ie. average points per game) to decide who goes through. There was a story about this on the official site. At any rate, what a game last night. Was about to head off to bed and then Turkey scored. I'm thanking my lucky stars I watched that game till the end.

Don't get fooled arround with Portugal, Holland and Spain. The champion will be Russia.

That match was in no way fixed. It was clear that they played in the right spirit and it just so happened to end up 2-2. Great game to watch anyways.Last edited by calebk; 17 June 2008, 09:10 AM.
