  • The 2008 Olympic Games

The dazzling way China welcomed the whole world to their Olympic Games was really outstanding. As the Olympic boss Jacques Rogge already said the games are for the athletes and not for the politicians.
After having visited China myself several times I know you can learn a lot from them and see amazing things. So it s great to see the games in China.

Romania won the gold medal today, in Judo, in the 48 kg category. Alina Dumitru won the gold medal after she defeated one of judo's living legends, Tani Ryoko of Japan, 2 times olympic champion and 7 times world champion ( in the semi-final match ).
In the final Alina defeated Yanet Bermoy of Cuba in just 1,20 min, by ippon ( it's like the KO in boxing ) and after 5 succesive european titles becames, at 26 years, Olympic Champion...Well Done Alina and well done Romania !!!!!!!

What an achievement indeed Attilahun, she looked so 'happy happy' what a day she had

Tomorrow the US basketball dream team is in action against China. The ones interested in basketball know there is nothing better to watch than LeBron James (he is so fantastic !!) , Kobe Bryant and Jason Kidd in one team . Just curious to see if Kobe Bryant will play as point guard or as shooting guard. But this game is just one of the so much interesting events to watch tomorrow I guess...

Great Britain have won their first gold medal - well done to Nicole Cook, won the cycle road race in terrible conditions!

I never thought I´d watch things like Hockey, Fencing, Basketball etc. but I guess that´s something like olympic fever
Oh, and we´ve got a bronze medal. But the reporters are saying what a desaster it was for the cyclists and swimmers. I´d like to see them cycling for 6 hours (men) under those conditions of 35+ degrees and a humidity of nearly 90%. But I´m optimistic we get a few more soon.

              Quote of the day:

"We weren´t so slow, the other teams were just faster."
Swimmer Antje Buschschulte after Germany´s 5th rank in the 4x100 m relay.

Full court press on the Chinese guards in the second quarter was enough for the NBA stars to take a substantial lead. Some gallery play at the end was great even for the Chinese spectators I guess.

I watched the whole match and I really liked it. Okay, I don´t know the rules but who cares. I´m sure I watch the next german match as well. They´re playing the USA and China as well, right?

I suffer to this fever too. Watched the women hockey match between Germany and England today and I was totally impressed.

Yes indeed. But with Dirk Nowitzki and Chris Kaman - both NBA players and Nowitzki one of the best - Germany should definitely do better than China against the US. I' m looking forward to that match also. Very impressive to see that kind of quality in one team and with only one white American : Jason Kidd.

The US and Phelps win the 4X100 freestyle relay with a new world record after one of the most spectacular swimming races ever. Look at the French swimmer coming too close to Lasak by swimming too much to the left and by this creating the conditions for the American to finally seize victory.
                        Anyway second gold for Phelps.
