    • Are you talking about Rasmussen? (Tour de France, he had exactly the same story, or are you winding me up?) haha!

              • Yes, I was pleased for Belgium. . Its actually odd you can win a gold because the other one fails the 3 attempts. Hardly any consolation me thinks winning the hockey against Spain

Furthermore I was glued to the screen this afternoon, the artistic way the Rythmic Gymnastics is performed! I think I will apply to be a judge next time!

                • Indeed it was a great jump from Tia at her first attempt on 2.05 m leaving all the pressure to Blanka Vlasic. Vlasic made the fatal mistake at 2.05 m by missing her first attempt. But this is what Olympic Games are all about.
It doesn't matter that your opponent has won the last 32 (Vlasic did I think) contests, today was programmed as the olympic day and Hellebaut did great.
I heard Vlasic on the Belgian radio after losing gold and I must say she was great in defeat, despite how arrogant she can be.
I saw that going differently in my mind

                  • Kenenisa Bekele - a man with a mission - finally achieved his goal by winning the 5.000 m and the 10.000 m golden medal. In Athens he was beaten by Hicham El Guerrouj on the 5 km because the pace was too slow. Today he won an heroic final and is with Lasse Viren the only athlete to have achieved this double.

Does swimming need any judges as well? Wouldn´t mind giving them towels or dry them off I´m talking about the guys, of course

The most emotional moment of this year´s Olympics for me was the way Matthias Steiner celebrated his gold medal in weightlifting and the story that´s behind it.

                        • One thing I want to add: congrats to China for the attention to details, organisation and ... aesthetic. Venues and sports fields were all decorated with fine taste. China has a long tradition of arts and has been true to itself in that area.

                          • I agree it was immaculate. There are some questions though (according to a news report)

Some of the fireworks were recorded and not live. They were manipulated with computers. Furthermore it has been reported the ordinary public were kept away from the games. Venues and athletes completely shielded off from the real Chinese world. This also was confirmed as there were no big screens at all for the public to enjoy. Its all orchestrated in a military way, where we never will know what really happened behind the scenes.
