Far from the thread having run it's course it's at last got to the point where it can turn from being a bit of a joke into a rational argument / debate. One I would hope you'd allow to continue in public and not back channeL as it effects everyone.
Of course my analogy of the typical administrator of an internet forum being at one time some bullied little kid happily now running his own little world where he and his cronies can play at god is totally imaginary but can anyone put forward a better one that explains them when they dish out bans simply because they don't like what someone has said?
Yes I admit I was wrong to say the guy selling a Parris cue on ebay was selling a fake and that he was a scumbag for doing so as I had no proof it was a fake but at that time I was convinced it was. yet when the guy signed up and still could not see the logic in both buyer and seller agreeing to sending the cue and money to JP first thus providing a 100% g-tee of its authenticity I see nothing wrong In calling the guy a thicko as I did. Hell most of us know buyers of JP cues are as thick as two short planks anyways paying top money for in the main overrated average quality cues. Truth is I would have apologised profusely had he agreed to send it to JP but he never did even after I spelled out the process to him in the simplest English possible so sod him. Anyways that's water under the bridge now and irrelevant to this debate (if indeed the debate exists,as I may well be wasting my time typing if you hit the delete key)
My gripe is a simple one in that no one should have the right to decide upon the suitability of a posters written words relevant to the thread on a public forum especially if the language used is no more offensive than that heard everyday in infant schools around the country You not my father, an elected person in authority a law enforcement officer whatever your merely some guy with a delete button in front of him.
Okay I've heard the argument many a time: "this is not a public forum it's on my server I'm paying the bills" whatever but that's bull as it's a forum open to anyone with an email address. It's not a private club though you can easily make it one if you so wish. Ones behaviour on it simply does not exist, it's only words written by anominous folks as harmful as graffiti at a bus stop and even if the words are read as threatening so what? Joe Kidd 147 saying he's going to beat the crap out of Ipotalot 57 is comical. You have to be seriously infected with an overdose of political correctness to think otherwise.
The time will come when the software will make moderators completely redundant. They have but one roll left in deleting spammers posts now anyway as the more modern forum software allows the poster to pick other posters and add them to their own ignore list. Something most people do anyways as the best forums are without doubt in my opinion totally unmoderated allowing us all that right we in the free world respect, that of freedom of speech.
I've never read like most I imagine the forum rules Rob pointed to as they are not applicable to anyone as the rules members agree to are shown when they sign up. So again I repeat I've broke no rules of this site.
hahaha and you say I'm way out on my apology of geeks playing god.
Wity

Ultimately if the mods feel you are detracting from the forum as a whole in any way, we're entrusted to pull you up on it however we see fit.
