Anyone seen City of God? Definite 10/10 for me, easily one of the best movies I have ever seen. Was released a few years back and is a Brazilian movie. Storyline is superb, highly recommended. You won't regret watching this. I'm definitely gonna watch it again sometime.

Speaking of Brazilian, anyone seen the movie called 'Brazil'? It's not Brazlilian, Terry Gilliam directed it, and it has Robert De Niro in it as well. Not a movie for everyone, but I've found it very impressive.

I like the enthusiasm . Shawshank Redemption and Green Mile are another two of my favourites. Of course not as good as City of God but both are great films as well.

I hope some of you have seen The Third Man now? I got hold of an blue-ray copy of it, and I was absoultely stunned at how good it looked!
Another truly great film that is gobsmacking on blue-ray is la salaire de la peur (wages of fear).
To be living in this age, when the great classics of all ages is coming out in high definition, is just a dream come true! Sometimes I have to pinch my arm to believe it!

Yeah well some people are not aware of the fact that ordinary film actually have about 4-5 times higher definition than full HD. So, given that the original rolls have not been damaged or lost, a film made 70 years ago will on a big cinema screen look better than the latest episode of for example House (unless that show is shot on film too).
But it is a bit of a shock to the system to see old classics like Casablanca looking almost as if they were made yesterday!
