For the last couple of years very few of the posts between tournaments have been snooker related. There's been activity, but it's been word games, puzzles, 'anything exciting', 'what song', quizzes, with only a few threads on coaching, cues etc. I think that's partly down to demographics. Most of the regulars at the time had come from the BBC boards (a huge number came across in summer 2006, completely changing the face of TSF) which naturally is very much focused on televised/professional snooker. Nothing wrong with that at all, but the fact that the emphasis has shifted as some of the 2006 club are moving on, and other new members are joining, is not a bad thing either.
With the benefit of access to forum stats I can say for a fact that the forum is no less active than it was this time last year in terms of new threads (on topic sections are quite a bit more active). The 2008 WC was TSF's busiest ever.
Yes, some members are leaving or posting less frequently - I'd love to see many of them back too - but people don't stick around forever on any forum (honourable mention to Templeton Peck here ). It's not as if there's been a mass exodus, the membership is simply evolving.

Whom do I miss? I missed you, btw, and was glad to see that you were back.
I don't miss Mugello and co. Do I miss Semih? Well, I liked his competent comments on snooker in general and in detail (matches).
Which of you knows why he has disappeared? Any serious reason? Or just another indication of his very special sense of humour?
Whatever it was, it is his right to do so.Last edited by Sunflower; 23 September 2008, 06:40 PM. Reason: Useless question at the end of my original post.Men play the game, women know the score

I came to TSF after looking at cues as I admit I do love my cues and can appreciate the effort that is made in the old and new. As a UK 8 ball player I do not really have anything to say in the snooker threads so I do not tend to post.
The pool section, once in a while there is a UK 8 ball thread but mainly its 9 ball and US terminology which i do not understand so tend to stay away. So really I should be on a pool forum. But the thing is, and ive been on alot of forums, the people are so nice and helpful here, which does attract me to the forum and i hope to be here for time to come
Thank you for all who have helped me in the past with all my stupid, obvious or intriging question.

I have been reading this for a few days now. I myself have not been posting on here because I dont find the time. But I make sure that I come on here whenever I get time and know whats going on. The members who are not here currently used to keep the forum lively and active! I hope they come back.
Do you think they maybe reading this?(They can't read the whole thing if they are not members)Who needs 'The Rocket' , When RaNeN is here!

....
From where i was standing 2 years ago, this forum was like a huge happy gang, i had the impression that all members know each other and there are strong bonds between them....i always had the feeling it will be almost impossible to fit in. And so it was in a way..I never really felt part of it but cant say im happy to see that its members spread away...
Robert is right, ppl come and go, membership is evolving like he said...and id add : in quantity mostly cause in quality...not to much , cause i think we wouldnt miss the absent ones and the old times if it was better now, would we ?!
Loads of ppl must of left this forum and we have no idea about them , but those mentioned did make a difference here ...so its just a shame they're gone."I just want to live for the moment.Tomorrow's not important, next month is not important, what's happened in the past is not important. That's my journey... and I like the journey i'm on!" There isn't many forums that attract big name cue makers to regularly post either.
I have to agree though there is a little bit too much repetition and some times I just want to say use the search you lazy ******* to some of the questions asked.
And cue threads are informative, loads of tips on cue choice, brand, materials used, accessories. Cue makers/retailers' responses helpful, both from a player's perspective, and a 'technical' point of view.
And Wity, awesome knowledge of cues.sigpic

I am fine, just have no time for computers anymoreYou play a long slow deadweight red to a corner pocket. As it approaches the pocket, a kamikaze woodlouse crawls out from under the cushion and makes its way across the table, conflicting with the path of the red precisely at the point the red gets there. The red, needless to say, veers off course, and the future of the woodlouse is uncertain. - The Statman
