  • Cricket Question

    Hello
Was just wondering what the result of this match be read as?
Two teams TEAM1 and TEAM2 are playing a one day match. TEAM1 bats 1st and scores 300 runs in thier 50overs. Now TEAM2 is 299 for 9 and one ball remaining. Now at the last ball TEAM1 player bowls a No-Ball , the batsman does not hear the umpire call it a No-Ball runs for a single and is run out in the process. TEAM2 has won the match! But by what? If the batsmen wouldnt have run it would have been victory from them by 1 wicket. So what have TEAM1 won by?

It's a tie, surely because both teams have the same score.

299, plus 1 for the no ball gives 300, then being bowled out makes it a tie?

Oh , sorry my mistake. Its 300 not 299. Now what will be the margin by which TEAM2 will win the match for the above mentioned situation?

Team 2 should win by 1 wicket, because the ball goes dead as soon as the winning runs are scored, ie. in this case by the no ball. it shouldn't matter whether they run or not.

Well as you say the ball is dead. Then they will not get any runs on that ball neither as a no ball or the run for which they have run.
