....yes, I think Robert is very talented, and had a very successful 2008 season, scoring numerous podium places, and the win at Montreal. IMO, he definitely has the makings to be a great driver, the speed, plus consistency. And as long as the car continues to be good enough, and he regularly challenges the front-runners, he has a good chance of being successful again this year.

And I'm hoping for an exciting year for F1, with all the rule changes, and completely different looking cars, plus interesting to see which drivers respond best to the slicks and grip, and if there will be a new resurgence of overtaking......

I'm hopeing that money will be stop being pumped into a sport where people are getting paid millions and 10 of million for driving a car!

I was a mad fanatic about the sport 10 years ago, until the governing body kept changing the rules (during the season) to the advantage of ferrari and M.Schumacher. What the did with the power saving braking system of McLaren (before approved and rated for fair) just because they were a second per lap quicker as ferrari, was a disgrace to sport in general, that was of course to ban it!
Schumacher also hit Hill in the final race in Australia on purpose, stealing from him his world titel.

You probably noticed I wasn't so keen on Schumacher

Sport like that I don't want to see!

I think Hamilton will be hard to beat - one more year's experience and reputedly an amazing new car. Not to mention he's the best natural driver IMHO.

And 70 grand a week for kicking a football around is?

Yes they get paid alot. But there is also a ultimate price which is their life. Reason so much money is pumped in is the sport has got too corporate. I wish i was alive in the 60's and 70's when a guy with some cash and a garage went racing. But those were very deadly times, especially between 1971 and 1978. But drivers were drivers and one hell of a brave bunch! Bloody hell they did not have seatbelts in the 60's and best they could hope for was to be thrown out! Dam that for a game of conkers!

I've never been able to get into F1, though I'm going to try this year! Sport on BBC always seems better to me because there are no breaks!

When does the new season start?

You could call it justified arrogance as well
I saw that going differently in my mind

He is a great champion, like it or not......outside formula 1 he is another person. To give you an example, he donated 10 million US to help victims of Asia's tsunami and earthquake. That is almost the amount Romania donated. Oh and he is an ambassador for UNESCO.

And he was an example for many drivers. Coulthard said all of them could learn from MS, regarding his life style.

I think these two incidents when he won his 1st and last word titles say it all..

The first incident was a race accident, and we see accidents like that every year. It was discussed a lot because it was the final race and those two were racing for the title. Senna did to Prost something much worse but no one seems to remember that ( he practically went into Prost car, from behind, just after the start, and won the title ).

As for the second clip, that year it was Alonso who won the title and for what MS did he was forced to start the race last, in the Monaco GP.

Does anyone remember how he tried to get Villeneuve out of the race to become World Champion in 1997? I was so glad he got disqualified. Oh yes, his lifestyle, who on earth needs an own gas station?????? tell me...no one! Who, on the other hand, refused to buy jam in Switzerland because it was too expensive? 2 pound for some jam, hello??? The same man.
