"... very even points" would that not be the points of the butt splices? Which we all know, JP (staff) seem to have difficulty with sometimes?:biggrin:

Points is referring to the grain arrows I would assume, even spacing between them. Maple ultimates can look different because maple can have varying levels of how noticable the grain is. I remember the cue contest post on here from pottr and the ultimate he got was terrible, veneers bleeding through the splices and plenty of "toffee marks" on the shaft.

What passes for an ultimate these days would be firewood in the early 90's.

I mean look at the state of this, was posted before but it's so bad it needs posting again. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F264579894269

Seen rack cues in a bar that looked better.

That cue would not make it out of raymonds workshop with any badge on it.

        Rest shaft maybe

Just noticed the person selling this ordered it during 2013, 6 years and that's what turns up.

Good god, that poor cue, looks like it may have been a Eureka at one point, then it was handed to Mr Magoo to lengthen.

General area around the badge isn't at all suspect. That being said, in terms of the cue itself it's shaft is probably better than most "consumer grade" ultimates as of late.

That is not a parris cue and the veneer is not a wood he ever used. Pretty sure the seller knows this fine.

Yup, looks to be a thai cue with a badge battered into place.

                    • There are some right chancers out there , terrible veneer used and as Andrew said .... John Paris would not use this type and if he did it would only be recent . As this veneer would not have been used when non numbered ultimates were being produced.
Ferrule also looks a bit too long for a Parris .
Still trying to pot as many balls as i can !

                      • Yeah that badge looks very different, bad job faking it, wished people didn't do that.
The guy that may bid on this won't be happy

Since you guys are experts, how does this shaft look according to you?

Alright i suppose, nothing to write home about. About average for consumer ultimates.

Seller did know, because I had messaged him about it and reported it on ebay. He wasn't the nicest chap and sold it anyway. Ebay being ebay didn't do anything to stop it either. Well I guess whoever bought it will be sending it back and reporting as soon as they see it in the flesh.
