I agree trev, I own an early exquisite cue and the cue listed here looks exactly the same. I'd say definitely genuine.

As we know though, there are producers of cues (overseas) who do build cues, who then sell onto others who put their names to them. This generates larger profits as it makes buyers believe the product is made somewhere that carries a higher pricetag as standard, such as the UK.
As we are seeing however, some overseas companies are now trading quite happily under their own names, and, are doing so with some success. I for one would be happy to see that continue and for the trade of pre-made and re-badged cues come to an abrupt halt.
Anyway, I digress.
My point is simply that this particular cue looks like any other with this name badge.

Sorry to hijack this thread ,just a quick point. Trev we would all like to see rebadged cues stopped, but unless we know who is doing it ,how do you stop it, I don't want another cue gate started, but if you know who does it ,tell us, it's the only way, it's an absolute rip off charging 5-6 hundred pound for a ready made cue,it's just not fair on the lads that buy them. This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

If you bought a cue from a UK maker that said "handmade in Thailand & UK, then that would be a comparable analogy, imho.

Like that numpty on ebay selling those dodgy cues with Hunt & O'byrne badges,he's getting his badges made up and by who, but as he's worded his listing accordingly so he's doing nothing wrong in theory, yes you can buy a cue off a decent seller on here etc but his mate might of got this cue off their mate who bought it off his other mate and you won't really know.

your not going to stop Chinese fake cues , I have a Gibson Les Paul guitar that cost £275 made in china with Gibson and made in USA on it , but if it was the real deal it would be £3300 .
and no I did not get ripped off I knew what it was when I bought it even though is really does sound ok in fact better than ok , but it is not a gibson .
you can see web sites selling all sorts of products one such web site is called DHgate , I have not seen any fake cues on there but they do some very good deals on hand spliced cues on there and you will be surprised as at the quality you get , but remember to ad around £43 customs and handling charge .
just like the copy of cues with country and makers name , they even put made in USA on the reverse of the head stock and a serial number nicked off the Gibson web site
here is one on ebay

It isn't up to anyone to stop it (outsourcing that is) and I'm sure most here will appreciate that it's a legal way of going about things. On the question of cues with UK named badges that are not made here in the UK, it's more a question of ethics and transparency and truth.
To use M&S as an analogy to the cue business is a little flawed. M&S sell their products with clear labels to inform country of origin. The simple difference with some cues is that they do not, and in fact, infer that they are completely made here in the UK. A name badge may well not say "made in the UK" but there is clear inference to it. Furthermore, the problem with comparing clothing or food which is sold within a large store that anyone can come in and browse, is that none of it is bespoke and made specifically for an individual customer. The cues in quesion on the other hand can be, and sometimes are, supposedly made for specific individual customers, who actually think they are buying a UK hand made product.
To me at least, that appears more than a little bit shady.
Perhaps I have that wrong, but until I hear a solid contrary argument against my view of it, I'll hold onto it.

[QUOTE=neil taperell;813029]Still can't see how you can tell the difference between a real and a fake , if they use the same font for the name badge ?[QUOTE]
The fake Exquisite cue was on facebook, they had used a front splice Raymond would never have used, that's how it was spotted
