Don't worry. It is not all that bad.
There are really nice moments with a really adult conversation.
I like this time now much more than the time when they were toddler...
And you will have more time for you and your partnership.
If it gets to that stage, watch out! They'll be swapping us for cues as we'll already be antiques!
By the way, I saw you've ordered a cue from Robin (for English 8ball pool?), which is a very good choice, as he does make a good cue; who's next on your little list? Dave Coutts, Paul Roberts, Tony Glover, Tony Wilshaw, Kevin Muncaster or someone else? Your wife must be very happy ... new shoes!!
Well, i we will find a good home... Maybe with a huge cue rack and a snooker table in the house. Could be a good swap also for us.
I have Trevor and Robin on order so I will go slow now. At least for a week or two...
I think Coutts cues could be next.
Tony Wilshaw and Kev Muncaster have received mails from me, unfortunately without a response.... So they will have to wait.
But summer comes and new shoes are needed. So I put it the other way: You need new shoes? I'll get new cues...
Dave Coutts is a good next; he also makes a very good cue. Persist with Tony Wilshaw, he's well worth it; he made a cue for a friend of mine and it was really excellent, the most elegant cue I've seen in a while. The reason you might have had no response is that it's Tony's daughter who generally takes care of e-business and she's been ill recently, so that might be why.
Summer cues are a very good idea! I like this concept. Personally, I'd contact Tony Glover and Paul Roberts at Stamford Cuemakers for your summer cues. Tony's cues are as good as any I've ever seen, his splicing draws respect from other cuemakers, and they're good players too. Paul Roberts also makes a very nice cue and has some innovate designs and ideas for combinations of woods that I think you'd like, too.
You want shoes ... I want cues!! Yip, I really like the sound of that one!
The kids need new shoes ... I need new cues!! Yes, that one rings true, too!

Coutts cues are fantastic but he is currently on a 20 week wait time.
If you get a Northwest cue I would reccomend gettin a 3/4 cue from him. I have seen loads of his cues and once bought a batch of 8 from him and I still have not seen a good 1 piece he has made, seems to have a ptoblem getting the splices even for some reason. All the 3/4 seem to fine though.
Just because its old, doesn't mean its worth a fortune!!
Thank you for the good advise.
I've already heard that the 1pc cues of Kev Muncaster are not the best he is able to do. So he already lost some ranking in my personal top ten.
Maybe i could find a decent second hand one instead of taking the risk to order one from scratch...
Stamford cuemakers will be one of the next...
Maybe when the shoe budget for autumn/winter 2009 is to be discussed.

I have a Stamford, and have seen a couple of others. They are good stiff playing cues, but in terms of aesthetic quality, they are not great.
The finish isn't the best, and the splices are uneven.
Therefore if you want a Stamford to play with, I would recommend them, if you just want one to add to your collection, I wouldn't bother. They are not in the same league as H&O, Mike or Trevor. IMHO
Thanks a lot for sharing your experience.
I prefer to have both in one cue, a good playing cue AND a beauty.
If I would only look for a playing cue I could have stopped buying some time ago...
