May I suggest you replace the frame with something time-typical before selling? It would lift the painting to a whole new level and might actually attract more interest.

I plan to live off my savings during my study years, not invest them. Even so I suspect it would be within my reach only just. But as you say, if you got the money, financially stable investments like art are always interesting in times of economic depression. Good luck with selling it!
