  • eBay What is a 3/4 custom made green plate worth.

I have been offered a 3/4 green plate (Osborne) at my local club. It's in excellent condition with a nice case.

Apparently, the cue cost almost £800 (custom made) and the case is an expensive one, worth over a £150 new. I can't verify these figures, but owner seems honest.

I've looked at the cost of green plates online and it states £450 for custom made ones.

What do you think a sensible offer for this cue should be? I've been offered it at £500 for only the cue. My personal view is that this is quite overpriced given I bought my own one-piece Osborne cue for £285 a month ago.

The owner could aruge it's custom made, but it's not custom made second hand as the specification aren't the new buyer's specs.

    Quick answers appreciated!

Yes very over priced mate. I have a brand new one here with extensions and would sell for £420

totlxtc, thanks for your reply. Good to see that I'm not alone! I am always cautious about offending people re. price. Does yours come with a case, extensions and is it a 3/4? 10mm?

It is a 3/4 and getting a case is not an issue. I "think" its a 9.5mm.......i'll go check

EDIT: Just checked and its 9mm

What a pity! I need a minimum of 9.5mm. Good to see a Green Plate at a better price.

Hopefully, I can make the seller see that he might be be incorrectly pricing his cues.

Well overpriced mate, it probably cost more like 500 new, and like you said it might be custom made but thats for the original owner and not yourself. Besides I've seen greenplates go for 200 on ebay, although they'd average a bit more than that, but if he's asking 500 for that tell him to put it on ebay and he'll soon see what it's really worth

My mate has bought one recently direct from H & O for £650.00 . So probably over priced due to 20 week wait to get a new one .

I don't doubt it costs what he says it cost but the marketplace is a cruel world! Very rarely do you see your money back on anything...

Have also seen a Green Plate (one piece though) cue on eBay for http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT
                for less

Guys, do you think £395 for the cue given that it doesn't have extensions is a fair price? I don't think I need the case and will buy a much cheaper one.

Or should it less than £395 that for just the cue?

I don't think I would pay as much as £395, if it was me I would look at getting one made to MY specifications.

May cost a bit more, but if you are prepaired to spend £400 on a second hand cue i'm sure you would spend a little extra to get exactly what you want.

I would love one made to my spec, but I just don't have the time! Could we have a few numbers up chaps? I've go for the average!

Summer time is the best time to get a cue made, most players take time off through the summer. If you are going to buy the cue my top offer would be £300.

That does make sense considering a green plate just went for £285 last month at similar spec. I'd agree on £300 given it's a two piece.

ah now we are in my area! - right a green plate with both extensions i would sell at about 450-475 if it was totally mint so maybe 400 without the extras in the sort of condition where it needs a clean up 300 for the cue would be top price.
