  • eBay Is this cue an Omin

Does anyone know whether this cue with an Omin badge is genuine? I bought it off Ebay about two years ago. The badge seems ok except it says “handmade” but, it is obviously a machine spliced cue. It is 57 inches, ebony butt, ash one piece, balance about 17 inches, 18.5 oz approx and tip 10 mm approx. Anyone suggest how much it is worth, bearing in mind there is a small crack at the butt which has been filled and, when I bought it, the butt had a lacquer type finish which I removed and have applied linseed oil. I think the butt now has a lovely feel to it but, I reckon it could do with a bit more tender loving care. The shaft is A1 OK and I will sell it if anyone is interested.

I may be wrong but it looks to me as if someone has put an omin badge on that cue at some stage .

Looks like GENUINE O'min. I have seen countless O'min cues, Many of them which are machine spliced have the
"Hand made" caption on their disc/badge. it was even engraved on the female joint of the cue.

      Hope it helps

Thanks Hotpot and Asi. One thing for sure, I do not want to mislead anyone. What puzzled me is that it seemed hardly worthwile to stick on what appears to be a genuine Omin badge on a cue which can stand up for itself, having a genuine ebony butt, a decent ash shaft, and so obviously machine spliced. I will be interested in any further comment.

It's genuine, I have been to Thailand and visited "Master cue" and Omin workshops. ALL cues at O'min had this "HAND MADE" caption on them, even the machine spliced.

I think is what like Asi have said, Omin use "Hand-made" caption as badge. Right now Omin have already stop producing machine made cues and only focus on hand made.
From what I see, it is a genuine Omin. You will have to play with it, the balance and finishing will tell. Imitation won't last more than one or two years.
I too have an Omin machine made, butt quality standard but the shaft is very good and I like it a lot.
Omin don't make this version anymore, maybe you can keep it
