  • eBay Rare Walter Lindrum 1929 Record Break Cue!

A rare Walter Lindrum 1929 Record Break cue, that's a very good example, probably the best I've seen here in the UK. Thinking about it, I've only seen 2 or possibly 3 of these on offer, in the last 10 years.

Specs are 58" long, 10.9mm tip, 17oz approx.

It has most of its original laquer on the butt, nice straightish grain down the side, and fantastic forward balance at 18".
I've tried a few shots with it, and it has that lovely old cushioned solid feel when striking the cue ball, with lots of screw back, considering it's nearly an 11mm tip.

It's in an untouched condition, and has a very good badge. There is however a slight bend, and a few light scratches on the shaft. Also one small minor mark on the butt. The "OZS" is faded, but can just be made out below the "17".

These original '29 Lindrums are very highly prized, and are mainly with the big collectors, and very rarely come up for sale or auction. This is a rare opportunity, to purchase one of the most sort after collectables!

Looking for a good offer, from anyone wishing to upgrade their collection, and will also consider a part-ex.

    Potter...
THAT IS A NICE CUE MATE!
    If you don't mind...

Q: The badge looks to be in great shape... so why are the screws so... screwed up?
Why would the badge be screwed and unscrewed so much with bad drivers to cause that wear?

    Cheers.

Hi Noel, yes it's a lovely old cue, waiting for a good home!

What your describing, is a bit of an optical illusion mate. The screws aren't worn by screwdrivers etc, there is like black dirt or something in the groove of the screw heads, that makes it look that way. The screwheads haven't been touched at all, as far as I can make out.

Another optical illusion, from your pics it looks as if it tapers very suddenly near the tip to a very small tip, but it is almost 11mm.

Hi Jaybee136, yes I agree, the camera angle had to be about 45 degrees, to get as much of the shaft in view.

I can assure you, that it doesn't suddenly go thin etc, towards the tip. In fact the taper of the whole cue, is very uniform throughout and increases very gradually. Not like the classic old whippy and weak billiard tapers of the day, but more of a uniform modern day snooker taper. The chunky and solidness of the shaft, reminds me of a B&W Tom Newman Champion Cue that I used to own, which was made around the same time period.

Hi TheRowdyOne, well seem as your from Australia, it will be double the price to you!...no seriously, I'm open to offers my friend. I'm not looking to retire on it, just looking for a reasonable offer, that reflects it's rare value. It will be a bonus, to think it will go to someone who will use and/or appreciate it.

Delivery worldwide by courier with insurance, is typically £45-50 to Australia.

Ok, after a few nervous enquiries, no satisfactory offers emerged. I'm willing to take £450 plus postage for this lovely old cue, as it's a good one, with a very good badge. Any serious collector or billiard player, will be very happy with this original Walter Lindrum 1929 Record Break cue, as it's in great condition for it's age!

Also willing to take in part-exchange a 1 pce H&O, Wooldridge or Trevor White cue etc.

Some of the other quality old cues that I've sold recently, can be viewed here: http://www.thesnookerforum.com/board/album.php?u=10895

I think you should rename the Joe Davis 105 cue in your gallery.. I don't think it's rare at all, I think £30 quid and a trip to tony glover and anyone can have one.

Not quite sure what your saying - are you saying its a newer common cue with a nice new Tony Glover badge of a rarer cue ???
