This cue if it is very nice might have been worth a grand. Now someone has cut it in half it is just a playing cue and might be worth £200.
What a shame to ruin an antique just to make it easier to carry.

You know, I was thinking about the same thing when I looked at the pictures for the first time. May be a new shaft was made because the original one was broken, hence the joint?
But it is a nice looking cue nevertheless.

                right again mate

sent guy an email yesturday and he tells me the cue was badly damaged on the shaft so was cut above splices and made a new shaft for. which dave brown at craftsman cues did the work, aparantly searching for a same looking shaft for a long time to fit cue.

i didnt notice at tme as was using it for playing cue, an as my cue swopping conintues decided to sell.

but since few people commented thought id ask more about it.

so suppose for collecting pont of view, no good, but its a great playing cue

I sold my Ye Olde Ash Cue sometime after I stopped playing, over 36 years ago and I think he also had a joint put in it, cos it was becoming more of a fashion at that time. Do not know if he still has it, as very seldom see him, but if I do see him, will ask if he still has it
I believe that he has stopped playing now.

Was it a trend to put a joint above the splices then?

Is it realy worth grand these days? Wonder how much mine is worth? Use to be snooker pro Bernard Bennet's cue who was one of the original 8 founding member of the WPBSA back in the 60s. His cue collection was split up when he died a few years ago.
