    Ready to pot

Just received my Kamui MH tip from Andrew this morning, all fitted up and ready to go test it out. Will let you all know how it goes as I still feel that my favourite tip is the Talisman M due to the feel and response I get from this tip.

I've been running on a Pro Granite tip for a while now, and while it is a great tip, holds the chalk very well and offers great grip on the white... I feel that I don't get as much feeling with it and find controlling the white just that little bit harder, therefore lowering my Talisman M average breaks of around 50 down to around 30 as I'm consistently losing position around the black and as you all know... half an inch in positional play could leave you snookered or not able to easily get the angle you need to get good position on your next shot.

With so much choice for different tips and so many different opinions, it is becoming very confusing as to which one to use.

People are changing them more often than their socks ... lol.

I know Kamui has just released a new version of its tips with new hardness, logo, and such on 15/08. But I guess that is only for US pool cue tips and nothing new was released for snooker tips?

You are not wrong mate . Thought i found the tip for me when i used the MW supertip . Since then i was told that the MW laminated tip was good and have just bought a kamui ! Since i didn't like the Talisman , i'm not sure why i have bought these tips
Not sure what one will go on 1st

I always do a double trim. First off, I use a scalpel with a slightly flexible blade. First cut is from close to the ferule outwards at a slight angle as I find that sometimes if you try your first cut as your final cut, that you can sometimes cut inwards.

The other reason for this is that it also makes your final trimming easier to control as you're not having as much tip to cut through.

Once I've finished my trimming, I roughly shape the tip using 120 grit paper. Then tape the ferule and rub 600 grit wet and dry round the sides of the tip to remove any slight imperfections. I follow this by removing the tape and lightly rub the tip and ferule with 800 grit wet and dry to remove any glue residue.

Finish shaping the tip with 240 grit, then shine the ferule with 0000 grade wire wool.

Takes a while, but looks good and gives me confidence that it's done right.

All I can say about the MH Kamui, is, f***ing brilliant. Love it. Got my touch back within 2 frames and hit a 39 and a 42 which is my highest in about a month.

Unlike the Talisman M, which I feel needs about an hour of play to break the tip in and soften it up a bit, the Kamui was great from the get go. A lot of feel from it. Didn't get unwanted side or anything. I think it plays a lot like a bedded in Talisman M, but definitely holds a bit more chalk, but I will have to play a few more days to see if it stays that way. Shape didn't change much, just a tiny tiny bit of flattening down but that's being really picky.

Can honestly say that for me, it's a winner. Think I'll only use these or the talisman M from now on as they feel so consistent and give so much feel, which is great when in amongst the balls making a break.

Don't think I'll ever go back to a pro granite unless desperate, but would be my choice from a pressed tip. A hard tip but more consistent than an elk any day.

i'd would really love to know how the black tips compare to
                        - MW super tips
                        - MW super layered tips
                        - Buffalo blue diamond tips

                        thanks a lot people!

just got the kamui soft (tan) 14mm...its a amazingly crazy tip to play with for the first 5 to 8 games...but soon i felt it became more like playing with a break cue (pool) ...

the balls start to slide off the tip and need to give it a good scruff every game before it can "grip" the cue ball...

i think its just me...but after that decide to stick back to my elk master tips.. yeah it can last forever without changing much of its shape...but cant really feel much of the cue ball...

Apparently. you should have used the 11mm tip. I think if you read in the correct place, that the 14mm tip is different.

I keep hearing the same things with these tips though. Great at first but once on for a few days and then you start having problems. Seems to me that as the tip naturally gets harder that the characteristics that make the tip no longer work as well and therefore its like any other tip really only it seems worse because of the lack of chalk adherance and other problems like the feel etc. For £10-£12 I think its a rip off as it doesn't do the job it claims to, well at least not for more than a few frames anyway.

i think they might have been fakes mate because i have heard the same stories but i have been bashing one about for a few weeks now and its still fine. - i know that some people were selling them for a price that means it was not possible for them to be genuine.
