  • eBay Some old cues for sale.

I'm trying to reclaim by spare room, so I'm moving on 20 or so old cues I've picked up over the last few years. I've sold 6-7 to local players, here's what's left before going on the dreaded ebay.

    Chlick here for Pictures
(*cues in left to right order as they appear in the rack).
(** except the Ashcroft which I forgot.. click sub album on the far right to view this one).

    ----- Cheap cues! -----

Raper & Sons cue - machine spliced rosewood butt maple shaft (not straight) - stamped 17oz
Original condition, has ferrule and tip - £20 (+pp or collected)

JS Hopkin cue - machine spliced rosewood butt with hornbeam shaft (straight) - stamped 16oz
Original condition new ferrule and tip - Now Reserved.

Grosvenor Club Cue - machine spliced rosewood butt with maple splice with green veneer and maple shaft - no stamp
Original condition no ferrule as made, but has tip - £20 (+pp or collected)

Permac match cue (gilesports) - machine spliced rosewood butt lots of veneers and a front splice of sommat or t'other. Ash shaft (very slight bend no impact on play) - stamped 16E
Original condition full laquer on butt perfect badges - fibre ferrule and new tip. £40 (+pp or collected)

Unnamed old cue - machine spliced ebony butt with maple splice and green veneer and whippy (but fun I've been using for billiards) ash shaft., No stamp.
Fully refinished by craftsman inc tip ferrule, forgot to ask for it straightening, so slight bend- if you were to take it in they charge under a tenner. £25 (+pp or collected)

    ----- Offers invited below! -----

Horace Lindrum Club Cue - Machine spliced rosewood? butt (some dark but not black wood), clean and straight maple shaft. - stamped 16A
Nice playing condition - lacquered butt and oil finished shaft no ferrule - has tip.

Herbie Holt Cue - Machine spliced ebony butt with rosewood front splice and maple veneer believe the shaft is hornbeam (not sure) may have slightest of bend but I'm not even sure so that tells you it's not at all an issue! stamped 16.5 oz - 57.5” - 10.8mm
Nice lacquer on the butt and smooth unlacquered shaft with perfect original transfer. Little repair by the badge - perfect plate.

Permac Champion Cue - The best example of this cue there is. Guestimated it's played 2 fames in it's lifetime (it arrived with not a fingerprint on it), it lost them both so it has to go!
Perfect machine spliced rosewood butt with 4 maple and green veneer splices. Flawless maple shaft (straight) and perfect badge. 17oz -58” - 11.3mm
Fibre ferrule and tip with 2 games play!

Freddy Vans Rensburg Match Cue - Machine spliced 'striped' butt with 3 veneers and ebony front splice with thick set ash shaft. stamped 18oz – 57.75” - 10.8mm
Nice oil finish throughout, with aged colour to the staft - has ferrule + tip

(**** left this out of the rack pics – this has seperate ones ****)
J Ashcroft Cue – Handspliced ebony butt with rosewood front splice and red veneer – has what I belive to be a hornbeam shaft (straight). 16Oz – 58” - 10.6mm
Refinshed by craftsman – nice player has ferrule and tip.
(**** rest of cues in sequance again ****) - £ ON EBAY

----- Not so cheap cues! (but good value non the less) -----

Claude Falkiner facsimile cue - Peradon cue hand spliced ebony butt with tighest grained ash shaft I've ever seen (straight). Stamped 15.5 oz. - 57.5” - 8.8mm tip.
Rare cue, only selling since I have two and I keep using it as my pool cue (when I should be sticking with the same one!!)
Smooth finish, might be wax by the feel but it is lovely non the less. Has tip and ferrule - smashing pool cue. £ ON EBAY.

WA Camkin Cue - handspliced ebony butt with rosewood front splice and maple veneer with ash shaft (may have slightest of bends but straight to my eyes!). No stamp – 57.5” - 9.6mm
Original condition. No ferrule (as made) but has tip. £125 no offers.

Wa Camkin Cue - handspliced ebony butt with rosewood front splice and maple veneer with ash shaft (straight). No Stamp – 57.75” - 9.9mm.
This is what the above cue looks like when you spend £30 and have a full refurb at craftsman. Lovely finish has ferrule and tip - Note: one little fill on the butt, 2mmx2mm but done nicely. £ ON EBAY

Burwat Champion Cue - I have this cue up on ebay someone sent me a message saying the description is bobbins!
The butt is a dark purpley black brown stripey wood (was told indian rosewood), with a rosewood front splice and satinwood veneer! Stamped 16.5 oz – 57” - 8.6mm
Has been relacquered at some stage in an original style finish – would make great pool cue. Has ferrule and tip. £ ON EBAY.

    Any questions get in touch.

Hi Mike, good luck with sales, appears to be a cue here for all budgets
Quick question tho...have you mixed up the prices on the 2 Camkin cues ??? ie the 2nd one which is slightly better spec and has had money spent on it, is cheaper than the other one (or is that because the 1st one hasnt been messed with) plus the front splices are different lengths by some way, is that just a common thing lol

      I see nothing ;-).

There's not that much in it I suspect it has something to do with the required balance points and weights. I shall check this theory later!

Evening Andrew, The 2nd Camkin is on ebay now:

                        http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...STRK:MESELX:IT

                        Full specs from my site.
Diameter at: Tip: 9.9 mm 12": 13.7mm Butt: 29.8 mm

I've omitted the weight from my listing as I have no way to measure it and it's not stamped. I estimated it at 16.5 for my site by comparing other stamped cues. Also note the small fill on the underside of the butt. I believe on the front page here I thought that was on the other Camkin.

                            Evening Andrew,

No problem, of course I can do, but I don't have too much confidence in their accuracy (maybe I should learn to use them more often? There must be a knack to it).

                            See efforts below!:
1st Attempt: Zero scales and lay the cue straight on top of scale, the cue appears to weigh 15.5 oz (this isn't the case.. I play pool with a cue of this weight and the Camkin is significantly heavier). Even tapping the scale and allowing it to resettle adds an oz.

Attempt 2) Add a heavy folder which weighs ~ 1.2kg, then zero that and then lay the cue on top. It now apparently weighs 16.5 oz - even tapping the scale it still weighs 16.5oz. For comparison I stuck on a cue stamped 18oz afterwards and this weighed 18.5 oz.

Best guess would therefore be 16-16.5 oz. The reason for caution is that unfortunately when you sell on ebay if you're not certain of something it's best to not mention it, since as the seller you're responsible for the accuracy of your listing. I would hate to get into petty disputes after a sale if someone said "you said it was 17oz its only 16oz" or similar, from my experiance and friends too - this is all too common.
                            ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
